I found out after I started reading that this was actually book 2 in the series. Although I had not read book 1, our author provided enough information that I was able to read this and not be too lost. Yes, there was some ground work that I was not privy to; however, this was readable and I was able to understand what had been before and was able to continue with the story with no problems. It would be preferable to read book 1 first.
This story was after the marriage of ODC [our dear couple] and featured their hosting a family Christmas party at Pemberley. You and I both know that plans get changed in spite of intentions. Darcy knew he couldn’t invite Lord and Lady Matlock and their sons and not Lady Catherine. Lady Catherine wanted to cause trouble for Lizzy and invited the Collins. Lizzy had invited her family and Lady C said Collins was also part of that family and he should have been included. How insensitive of the upstart to not include Mr. and Mrs. Collins. Yeah, right, like Lady Catherine cared.
Lizzy’s aunt Lady Vanessa thought it would be nice if all the Bennet sisters could be together and as a surprise invited Lydia and Wickham to Pemberley. Darcy nearly had a fit. Oh, and that is not all. Charles Bingley and company were traveling north when Caroline became ill. She just knew they could stay at Pemberley while she recovered, along with M/M Hurst, of course. Lawd, it only got worse.
The matchmaking schemes were going on over the place. With two viscounts in the house Lady C was matchmaking for Anne, Lizzy was working for her friend Lucy, Mrs. Bennet was scheming for Kitty and Mary, and Caroline had set her eyes on Lord Holland. In the meantime, Wickham was trying to make his fortune from somebody, and Lydia was being foolish and ridiculous.
There were several threads that were dropped and I was left wondering what the heck happened. I can only imagine there will be another book to address them. The rating was PG13 due to steamy, sensual, suggestive scenes, but nothing graphic.
I like Ms Dixon's stories, I have read quite few, I have enjoyed them . I highly recommend Her writings.
A sequal to "the lasting love affair ".
Planning their first Christmas together as man and wife, goes a little awry when Pemberley is invaded by uninvited guests.
They are not helping in Elizabeth's matchmaking plans either...
Thoroughly enjoyed this novella and highly recommend.

Es will einfach keine richtige Stimmung aufkommen. Das ganze Buch läßt einen kalt, zum Glück ist es ziemlich kurz.
