It has that classy gentlemanly look to it and yet its style is handsome enough to be worn is a myriad of different situations. It's not overly fancy. I wear it to work sometimes and I also wear it on the weekends. It's clean looking. The day/date is nicely sized. You can hear it tick if you bring it up near your ear.
I am not a watch aficionado but I do have several in my possession. For the price, this is definitely one of the nicer watches I own (and I do own an Omega Seamaster which is quite a bit more expensive). If you want a versatile watch that is sophisticated, stylish, and classy then look no further than the Tissot Visodate. You won't regret it.
- Under $500
- Decent movement (I didn't need in-house or anything to impress horologists)
- Could dress up and dress down as needed
I considered vintage, I looked at various Japanese watches, and I even considered some of the other Swatch Group brands like Hamilton. In the end, the Tissot Visodate was the best fit for every requirement I had. It also helped that the case wasn't horribly huge like so many watches today.
I love how easily this watch dresses up and dresses down to fit the occasion. I can throw it with one of my lighter suits and it's ready for summer. If I match it with a nice black band, it's just nice enough to be matched with my navy suit for meetings or interviews. It's versatile, looks more expensive than it actually is, and is comfortable to wear.
Yes, the strap could be a little better, but for under $500, you can't complain too much. Maybe a little, but then you're just being petulant. The movement is not in-house, and is an ETA 2836-2. Don't expect this to keep time with your buddy's Patek, but it's good enough. The reserve is good enough to last a couple of days, but if you're used to quartz you'll be disappointed when the watch dies "quickly."
If you want to step up from that quartz Japanese watch but don't want to break the bank, this is probably the best option in the sub-$500 market today.
Seller is trusthworthy. Tracking nummber supplied and shipment was fast, no issues at all.
When the greatest criticism you can find is the included strap, you know the timepiece itself is good.
Out of the box the band is really stiff, I've been working it in for a couple weeks and am not sure I like it, so it might get replaced. The clasp is nice though, just the band feels a little cheap compared to the watch. I'll give it another month or so and see how it ends up.
Overall, I really like this item and wouldn't hesitate to purchase another Visodate if this was lost or damaged.

This is my now my favorite watch. I have several nice watches - a couple I paid much more for than the visodate, but I find this being my go to/daily wear watch. Read morePublished 9 days ago by Kevin S.

I returned mine. I realize a dress watch is ideally no larger than 40mm, but it just felt too small. I'm also 6'3, so maybe that had something to do with it. Read morePublished 5 months ago by B. Hatz
