Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Carole Parkes first ventured into writing in 1985 when she wrote a series of children's books and some short stories. Since then, her husband describes her accurately as a butterfly owing to her many interests which include painting, needlework crafts, and writing poetry. In 1999 she became interested in her genealogy, so she stopped writing fiction and wrote about her family's history instead. Many years later, in 2013, she went back to writing fiction and published 'Tissue of Lies', her first full length book. The reviews show it is well received by those who read it. A second eBook, co-authored with Doug Lafuze, was published at the end of 2015. 'Your Last Breath' is a much darker thriller than her first one, and this is also attracting mainly 5***** reviews. --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

My husband calls me a butterfly! I do flit from hobby to hobby, sometimes enjoying a few all in one day. Although I’ve indulged in tracing my family tree, poetry, painting, dressmaking, cross-stitch, patchwork quilts, and all types of other needlework skills, my enduring passion has been for writing.

‘Tissue of Lies’ is my first self-published book. This emotional family drama becomes a psychological thriller when pure evil enters the mix. Follow Julie Simpson's journey from the moment she discovers she was a stolen baby, with all the lies and deceit this implies, through to the final, unbelievable betrayal.

I’m also the co-author of 'Your Last Breath'. Take a peek into the mind of American serial killer, Raymond Lang. See what drives him to this madness and witness the gory killings he believes he must commit to finish writing his masterpiece thriller.

I'm loving the experience of writing and publishing my own work. I'm especially pleased that strangers choose my books to read, and when some of them leave a review, it's the icing on the cake for me. If you've read this little piece about me, thank you so much for your interest. May you always enjoy reading thrilling books.

Tissue of lies
You have a wonderful life with a husband you love and twin daughters, life is good.
How could a small magazine article start a system of events where things change so drastically?
A stolen baby; Julie is drawn in by the picture of the woman in search of her child stolen many years earlier. Her certainty in the parents who raised her is now in question, but the loyalty and love for them instil the need for her to protect them.
And so starts the lies – As the story progresses, Julie unaware of the full truth of her ‘Real’ mother, becomes more attached with almost dire consequences. This is a tale of twists and turns that will keep you guessing all the way
