Kyle Pratt is the award-winning and bestselling author of post-apocalyptic, science fiction and speculative fiction novels, novellas and short stories.

His most recent post-apocalyptic thriller is the Amazon bestseller, Through the Storm. His first venture in the post-apocalyptic genre was with the similarly named Through Many Fires novel. This first book in the Strengthen What Remains series came out in paperback, Kindle, and on Audible in August 2013. Within two weeks the novel appeared on the Kindle Science Fiction Post-Apocalyptic list, reaching #10, and reached #1 on the list on December 2, 2014. The second book in the series, A Time to Endure, reached the number one position on the Amazon Kindle war fiction genre list just over a month after release and then again in January of 2016. At the same time Braving the Storms reached the number eight spot.

While serving on ships in the United States Navy, Kyle wrote short stories to pass the time. After retiring from the service he continued to hone his craft and in July of 2012 released his debut novel, Titan Encounter, a science fiction space adventure. His second book, Final Duty was released in January of 2013. His most recent science fiction novel is Recall the Earth, the second book of the Guardian Knights of Terra series.

Today, Kyle and his wife Lorraine live on a small family farm in Western Washington State. When he isn't writing he repairs gates and fences, tends bees and chickens and blogs anything that comes to his mind.

7/10 This is a page-turner. The writing is a little simplistic and predictable in some places but there are other twists and revelations I didn't see coming. The romantic thread is a contrived baseless flash out of the blue sadly typical of many fiction stories today.
Overall though this is a thoroughly enjoyable read and I'll be looking for more from this author. The ending is clearly set up for a sequel however some of the foreshadowing leads me to believe that's not going to be my kind of story.

Titan Encounter is a pretty darn good Sci-Fi adventure novel. Especially considering it is Kyle Pratt's first novel. It's not perfect, of course. But it kept me reading long into the night. The main characters were likable and authentic and the storyline both interesting and intriguing. The story suffers slightly from a rough beginning which reads more like a YA novel than adult sci-fi, and a somewhat abrupt ending, But there's plenty of classic sci-fi action between the covers that will have you turning the pages.

As some reviewers have pointed out, there are several allusions to God and the battle between Good and Evil. If that bothers you, you might not like this book. But if you like good, clean science fiction with several twists and don't mind an occasional reference to the spiritual realm, you will probably enjoy this book.

Justin and Mara run a space repair business but their world changes when he saves a girl from slavery. A young lady captured by pirates turns out to be some how connect to Titans; genetically enhanced soldiers who rebelled, and murdered millions in the Titanomachy War. The author develops the characters well and the interactions among the three are interesting. I enjoyed the plot line and found it inventive and the story rather clever. The twists in the story are entertaining. However I got my fill and will not be reading the next book in the series.

Lively and interesting characters, plenty of action and a compelling mystery to unravel.

Some Christian overtones, but nothing distracting and none of the proselytising that sometimes sneaks into a book such as this.

One thing that is necessary for a good read these days is to ensure that there is conflict on every page, and Titan Encounter delivers. I am a big fan of strong female heroines and this novel has this in spades. Kyle Pratt has written a very engaging story set in a future universe that not only seems believable but also causes the reader to wonder what else lies there. I found Titan Encounter to be somewhere between Joss Whedon's "Firefly" and a David Niven novel. I particularly loved the love triangle, the incorporation of ancient mythology and his use of tech which did not escape the realm of science as some science fiction often does. If you like high adventure set in a futuristic backdrop, this novel is for you.

This is a well written story that grabs and holds on to the reader's attention from the start. A new twist on the battle between good and evil, the story is about a brother and sister who learn there is more to their lives than they could have imagined. Kyle Pratt is a gifted story teller and I look forward to reading more from him. He truly needs to give up his day job so he can concentrate on writing.

Special Effects?

When it comes to sci-fi I usually watch the movie or TV series because I really like special effects. Well, I started reading this ebook and promptly got sidetracked by another ebook I bought from Amazon.com about the Mossad.
I went back to Titan Encounter and found a real FTL (faster than light) page turner that used my mind to generate some really special effects. This was a great book and when I got to the end, I kept trying to turn the page to see what was next. There has to be a prequel or sequel or both coming. I will be watching............
