I filled mine with Break Free CLP, and find it especially useful on revolver internals (under side plate).
Over-oiling guns gets you micro-fine oil spray in your face at the shooting range.
(Oily hands and stained grips and stocks too....)
This tool helps you avoid that situation.
No leaks observed from my pen. I recommend that you lightly coat the o-rings with silicone grease.
This keeps the o-rings supple and will afford a leak-proof seal.
I don't consider this pen a "precision oiler," but it's convenient, and the flow is controlled.
Try these Amazon items for precise oiling:
*Hoppe's Precision Lubricating Oil, 14.9ml Bottle E/F
*Darice Ultrafine Tip Applicator Bottle, 20ml
*IPS AAB4 Weld-On 1.25 oz Applicator Bottle with Needle
Works great putting a drop on a patch or on a bolt. I carry it with me to the range for re-lubing as the day goes on. Build quality seems good. I've only owned it about half a year, so time will tell. I've experienced no leaks, it uses o-rings on the cover and cap. Its perfect for CLP or other lubes that are more viscous in nature. The needle is on the "larger" side, so I couldnt reccomend it for something like rem-oil, kroil, or any thin machine oil.
which is about as viscus as a low numbered weight synth. automotive engine oil.
it doesn't leak, But I wouldn't put an oil like WD-40 in it,
It doesn't have the fine precision point
as the cheapo plastic "squeeze type" precision oiler.
If you don't need a real precision point,
this is a nice oiler. Carry it in your pocket like
a pen or pencil, no leakage or staining, with the cap on.
For those who haven't used an oiler of this type, there is a tapered brass plug in the tip of the needle. When you push the button, that plug extends outward and oil is able to flow past. Releasing the button immediately stops the oil flow. It's very controllable.
I don't think it will leak. I filled the reservoir with CLP from a 12-oz aerosol can. Apparently, it takes a while for the propellant to fully outgas. When I first used it, a bit of CLP shot out everywhere because it was still pressurized! But, if the oiler is capable of holding pressure like that, it's not going to leak all over the place. I recommend using a non-aerosolized oil, or waiting 10 minutes for an aerosolized version to completely outgas before sealing it up.
There aren't many negative comments to make. The threads in the cover appear a bit rough, but they function smoothly. There is no protection against inadvertent button presses, so the cap could potentially fill up with oil. Neither issue is very significant in my opinion.

This is just great, when I received it I thought it wouldn't be able to drop a drop at a time, but it can!Published 1 day ago by Fery018
Works fine so far. I leave it in a pencil holder, and not a tool box. It had not leaked yet, though I do not leave it sideways or upside down.Published 24 days ago by Greg K.
This oiler looked promising, but it does not deliver enough product through the pen. I play a French Horn and I needed an oiler like this that I could travel with. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Sonja L. Crenshaw
