The text is densely packed with detail, copies of documents, quotes from some of the excessively macho language describing the virtues of the ships, and many old photos. The book is a good introducation to the story of the Titanic and the imperial attitudes that contributed to its speedy demise.
Bonsall's work covers the history of Titanic and her two sisters, Olympic and Brittanic. It is very short, but well written and interesting even to someone with extensive knowledge of the ships. The jacket describes Bonsall as a top historian and the writing would seem to justify this description. I found the chapter on the Titanic inquiry to be especially good. The illustrations and photographs are excellent as well.
