Ellis Rostov-Leclair has been dead for the past twenty years. At least that is what the world thinks. Her wealthy royal parents had her declared dead when at the age of six she was kidnapped and severely injured. Eamon was kidnapped with her and rescued her, but thought she died from her injuries. He has felt guilt since then over his inability to save her, even though he was only fifteen at the time. Ellis knows that Eamon is smart enough to figure out who she is if she is around him for any length of time, so she tries to avoid him, but on a yacht, that is difficult. Shortly after the yacht is at sea, disaster strikes and the protector in Eamon comes to the rescue of Ellis again, but can he forgive her for her deception of the last twenty years? He has sworn to never be betrayed by a woman again. Will he keep his vow?
Thank you, Ronie for writing an account to wrap up the story of TItanis. I was left wondering what happened to him at the end of book three in the Quiet Professionals Series. Even though this is a novella it is packed with plenty of action. I read this story in an afternoon as I couldn’t put the book down until I knew where the story ended. It was an adventure to be sure! I’m looking forward to the next series by this great author of military action novels.
When Eamon "Titanis" Straider was 15 years old he trying to protect Ellis Rostov-Leclair, when due to circumstances unforeseen Ellis is killed and Eamon has always held himself completely responsible.
Because of that experience and never wanting to feel "less than able" again, he goes into the military and becomes one of the Elite. But he realizes that when soldiers leave the military there are many things that they do not have access to because of cost or not wanting to admit they need the help. So his dream to provide a place for Vets to get short and long term care begins to form.
When his Mom invites a beautiful young woman to an event he is holding on his yacht he immediately wonders what her angle is. The more he is around her the more he questions whether she is on the up and up. And when his yacht is taken hostage by a man looking for revenge on Titanis for the death of his brother, Titanis wonders if his beautiful young guest has something to do with this.
They work together with God's help, to get everyone through this crisis and realize that God had a plan beyond the immediate safety of all on the yacht.
I felt this was not nearly long enough. So Ms. Kendig I am putting in my order now for the extended version :)
But now it has! This was an absolute joy to read. Sometimes authors use out of date Aussie slang and I'm glad that all the slang are words that are often heard in Australia. Except for that one word for Kangaroo, must be a NT (Northern Territory) expression! The Aussie accuracies showed Ms Kendig's depth of research.
Ellis is sweet and yet lively, bringing out Straider's protective instincts. Although I might have wished the story to be longer, the novella is the perfect length for Eamon and Ellis' story.
And Kendig does all this in 140 pages!
If you've read any of Ronie Kendig's stories you know it will be fast, lots of action and a plot that is challenging enough to keep the reader on their toes. This is no exception.
Straider is a super character; sure he's an Aussie which I love being one myself, he's big, very big but more of more importance to me is his complex personality. I reckon there is so much more Kendig can do with this guy and I hope she may have another story or 2 with him buzzing around her head.
There were a couple of things in this story that I thought stretched reality a little too much, one that is quite significant to the plot, and that's the reason for the 4 stars. However, they didn't stop me from throughly enjoying this story and as I said I hope Kendig gives us another Titanis story in the not too distant future.
