It also works well to fill in/fix your mistakes. Simply mix a little sanding saw dust with some Titebond and it makes a perfect filler.
One other thing of note is that this glue cleans up well. Excess glue wipes away with a damp rag or sands away easy when dry.
First, those who are woodworkers and have never tried TB3 (is this even POSSIBLE???). Buy it. it has excellent open time, fantastic initial hold, glues pretty most all woods, has a good temperature range and is easy to clean up. You'll end using up your other glues up and exclusively using this. Except if you are a hide-glue user or fizzing-epoxy user, but these do different things. TB3 is the business. It is a
Second, newbies. You are going to agonise over glue. You'll end up buying all 3 tight bonds, a bunch of different polys and a good range of multi part urethanes. All of this will be justified by reviews, ads, friends, offers, specials and so on. Invariably you will be quite happy with your wall of adhesives. Sadly, they will be little used. You will however, use the TB3 a few times on boxes, boards and maybe a table. Then you will use it for everything. You will look at your Big Box of Adhesives for every project and consider the merits of each and carefully balance how this-or-that would work well with your maple box.... however, your hand will be on the bottle of TB3 as if guided by God.
The Titebond III Ultimate Wood Glue is an excellent product.
It's a little bit more runnier than the other Titebond wood glues.
I think the bond is slightly better probably because it's thinner and allows the glue to get into the pours deeper.
I still prefer the Titebond II because it's a little thicker and I'm not as messy with it.
It's just a preference to me not a difference in quality or performance.
We have also used Titebond III glue on wood fence panels. Some became loose so we removed them or just glued them with this glue and used stainless or galvanized screws or bolts. Once again, this application works very well with this glue. This is the best glue of this type we have used to date.
Not sure about the waterproofing part as my pieces have not been varnished or applied to work yet.
What I eneded up using tightbond 3 for was fixing those micro cracks - it's thin enough that I can pour it into a crack and it will wick itself in without much stuffing with a brush. Afterwards I put a clamp each way around the wood (top/bottom, left-right) and when it sets up the cracks are gone, invisible, and I can drill and run self tapping wood screws without fear of any more cracks forming after it sets up.
It still works great with precision cut joints and lots of clamps but right out of the bottle things will slide a bit due to the low viscosity of TB 3
