About this item
Dodow is a light that can teach you how to fall asleep naturally. Sleep aid device inspired by therapy, yoga, and meditation to help you soothe your brain activity, slow your breathing, and relax.
Tap the touch-sensitive surface once for the 8-minute mode and twice for the 20-minute mode. Follow the light: as it gets brighter, inhale. Exhale with the dimming. In the end, Dodow switches off.
With regular use, you can soon learn to fall asleep on your own. Numerous studies have shown that breathing is ultimately one of the best tools for regulating stress and mental agitation.
Over 1M Dodows sold. Happy users who used to have difficulties getting to sleep (aged 6 years and up); troubled thoughts, stress, tossing and turning, and waking up during the night.
Blue light used for good: Specific shade tested for best results. Dodow's light intensity is too dim to prevent melatonin secretion (the sleep hormone). 3 levels of light intensity to fit your needs.

so far it's just, "meh".second day:syncing my breathing with this device is difficult. But, I can tell that this device will help me slow down. Watching the light glow to match my breathing does reduce a lot of mental chatter. The lights are too unfocused. In the dead of night, the lowest light setting is still pretty bright. In the thick of the day, the brightest setting is pretty weak. It is uncomfortable to watch the light glob swell and decrease on the ceiling because the projected light is so unfocused. If the light had a sharp edge, like you get with a flashlight, it would be more comfortable to use.To resolve this issue, I folded bleached baking paper to make a cube that fits over the dodow. The light is concentrated inside the paper and makes watching the glow sequence easier. Making a "glow box" concentrates the light into an easy to see area that doesn't light the entire room.Second evening:Syncing my breathing is still an effort but it turns my mind off. These pictures don’t show it, but this thing is bright in a dark room, even on the lowest setting. to reduce the brightness I ripped off a small piece of printing paper and placed it over the lights. Then, I placed the glow-box over the dodow and videotaped it for you.I haven't used it for two nights in a row. Using this device feels like work. It has become something I avoid. Maybe if it cost $20, I would keep it around but it costs $60. Maybe the next version will be better. I wish nothing but the best for this company and their product;the Dodow simply became a chore I wanted to avoid.
My significant other and I both suffer from insomnia related to anxiety. You know the kind--where you lay in bed and things that happened 10 years ago haunt you into being wide awake. After over a week of both of us sleeping horribly, I was desperate. I'll admit this was somewhat of an impulse buy. I saw it on a facebook video and decided I was so sleep deprived, it was worth a try because there was a free return and we were exhausted. After nearly a month of using it nightly, I have to admit that I am quite shocked at how well it works. We don't use it nightly, just on nights we consider ourselves to be at risk for being wide awake all night, and each night we've used it, we've slept like absolute babies. Some pointers: **Take it for what it is. THIS IS NOT A CURE. It is essentially a distraction technique that helps you escape your thoughts through intentional breathing. It calms you and allows your body to fall into a natural sleep. It isn't a magic cure and it requires dedication to the process. If you can't commit to something like that, then this isn't for you. **It is battery operated. If you're an earth friendly household (like us), I would recommend simultaneously purchasing a set of rechargeable batteries. **It doesn't work well when it's directly against a wall (on a nightstand, for example). The light kind of gets distorted on the wall instead of projecting onto the ceiling. We have a bench on the end of the bed we put ours on that works just fine. A larger piece of furniture would also work, but something that sticks out atleast 2 feet from the wall is my recommendation. Hope this helps!!!
The idea behind this product seemed promising to me, but it fails miserably on implementation. One major problem is that the pace of the breathing (at the beginning of the cycle anyway) is faster than my normal breathing. So it slows your breathing down, but only after first speeding it up?? That seems rather pointless. I could feel my heart rate increasing as I tried to keep up with the pace of the breathing. It felt like instead of decreasing anxiety, it was making me more anxious. Also, the light circles on the ceiling were very diffuse (and my ceilings are of just average height) which made the pattern difficult to follow. This was still the case even after I put my glasses on (although if I had to wear my glasses to fall asleep that would not have been much help). And lastly, related I believe to the diffusion issue, is that the pattern goes dark for an uncomfortable period of time between the circle getting smaller and getting larger again - which is not conducive to establishing rhymic breathing. As a lifelong insomniac, I genuinely wanted this product to work and so I tried it many times over several nights thinking I could get the hang of it with some practice, but, because of the issues I explained above, it just did not work for me, and I am rather skeptical about it working for anyone. Note that the production quality on the videos on YouTube is a little too good to be believable - I think they are actually infomercials. I normally do not write reviews, but I feel a certain obligation to do so when I return a product that has been used, which I also normally would not do. And, I want my fellow insomniacs to have the complete picture before forking out any hard-earned money on this product, given that many, like me, are willing to spend anything for the promise of more restless sleep. My advice is to save your money.
I have struggled with insomnia for as long as I can remember, and I’ve tried just about every method and product available. Nothing has been 100 percent successful or consistent, but I have found the Dodow to be a very helpful tool — particularly if your sleep troubles arise from being unable to “turn off your brain.”
Pros: - Affordable, one-time purchase - Small size, easily portable - No cords or accessories - A helpful guide to breathing and relaxation that doesn’t wake me up if I fall asleep before the guide is finished, unlike other CDs and apps. - An effective distractor from anxiety and overactive thought patterns - Two time settings that allow me to tailor my experience dependent upon my sleep needs.
Cons: - The Dodow lights up an entire room, especially a room with light blocking curtains. I can still see some of the light through closed eyelids, even on the low light setting. -If you’re an anxious person, you may find yourself getting wound up if you can’t quite synchronize your breathing with the light. This is a mindset issue, not a product issue, but it is something to consider and reflect upon before you buy. -The light projects directly above the Dodow. Sitting on my night stand, the light projects decently far to the right from my head, meaning focusing on the light can be physically uncomfortable.
I am not sure how well the Dodow helps me sleep, but it does help me to at least relax and quiet my mind. It is useful while I am trying to sleep and when I am trying to clear my head.
As with any sleep remedy, the Dodow is not a cure-all, but it is a useful tool to keep in my toolbox.

7/7/19 getting the pulse back was a simple matter of turning the machine off and on. It continues to help me sleep. I often wake up at 2:30 am. Without the Dodow I might as well put the coffee on. With it I can go back to sleep. I have yet to last the full 8 minutes before wanting to sleep. 5/15/19 the device stopped working last night, It no longer pulses but just gives a steady blue light. Unable to return due to time limitation. If the vendor sees this, please let me know if I might be doing something wrong. Original Review it usually works. Seems overpriced for what it is but not for what it does. Worth a try for anyone with sleep problems.
Consigliato
