About this item
- Dodow is a light that can teach you how to fall asleep naturally. Sleep aid device inspired by therapy, yoga, and meditation to help you soothe your brain activity, slow your breathing, and relax.
- Tap the touch-sensitive surface once for the 8-minute mode and twice for the 20-minute mode. Follow the light: as it gets brighter, inhale. Exhale with the dimming. In the end, Dodow switches off.
- With regular use, you can soon learn to fall asleep on your own. Numerous studies have shown that breathing is ultimately one of the best tools for regulating stress and mental agitation.
- Over 1M Dodows sold. Happy users who used to have difficulties getting to sleep (aged 6 years and up); troubled thoughts, stress, tossing and turning, and waking up during the night.
- Blue light used for good: Specific shade tested for best results. Dodow's light intensity is too dim to prevent melatonin secretion (the sleep hormone). 3 levels of light intensity to fit your needs.

**Take it for what it is. THIS IS NOT A CURE. It is essentially a distraction technique that helps you escape your thoughts through intentional breathing. It calms you and allows your body to fall into a natural sleep. It isn't a magic cure and it requires dedication to the process. If you can't commit to something like that, then this isn't for you.
**It is battery operated. If you're an earth friendly household (like us), I would recommend simultaneously purchasing a set of rechargeable batteries.
**It doesn't work well when it's directly against a wall (on a nightstand, for example). The light kind of gets distorted on the wall instead of projecting onto the ceiling. We have a bench on the end of the bed we put ours on that works just fine. A larger piece of furniture would also work, but something that sticks out atleast 2 feet from the wall is my recommendation.
Hope this helps!!!
Pros:
- Affordable, one-time purchase
- Small size, easily portable
- No cords or accessories
- A helpful guide to breathing and relaxation that doesn’t wake me up if I fall asleep before the guide is finished, unlike other CDs and apps.
- An effective distractor from anxiety and overactive thought patterns
- Two time settings that allow me to tailor my experience dependent upon my sleep needs.
Cons:
- The Dodow lights up an entire room, especially a room with light blocking curtains. I can still see some of the light through closed eyelids, even on the low light setting.
-If you’re an anxious person, you may find yourself getting wound up if you can’t quite synchronize your breathing with the light. This is a mindset issue, not a product issue, but it is something to consider and reflect upon before you buy.
-The light projects directly above the Dodow. Sitting on my night stand, the light projects decently far to the right from my head, meaning focusing on the light can be physically uncomfortable.
I am not sure how well the Dodow helps me sleep, but it does help me to at least relax and quiet my mind. It is useful while I am trying to sleep and when I am trying to clear my head.
As with any sleep remedy, the Dodow is not a cure-all, but it is a useful tool to keep in my toolbox.

At first glance, the Dodow might seem like a simple device, but its elegance lies in its simplicity. By projecting a soothing blue light onto your ceiling, it becomes a mesmerizing metronome, synchronizing your breath with its rhythmic pulsations. Inhale as the light expands, exhale as it retracts – a seamless dance that lulls your mind and body into a state of tranquility. 🌿
But Dodow isn't just a pretty light show; it's a masterful conductor of relaxation. By gradually slowing your breathing from 11 to 6 breaths per minute, it taps into the magic of heart coherence, rebalancing your autonomic nervous system and ushering in a state of sublime rest. It's like having a personal yoga instructor whispering sweet nothings, guiding you towards blissful slumber. 🧘♀️
Now, let's address the elephant in the room – those pesky intrusive thoughts that seem to amplify the moment your head hits the pillow. Dodow ingeniously creates a diversion, occupying your busy mind with a simple yet captivating task. You'll be so focused on synchronizing your breath with the soothing light, those restless thoughts will quietly dissipate, leaving you in a state of serene tranquility. 😌
But what about the skeptics who argue that they can practice breathing exercises without a fancy device? Fair point, my friends. However, Dodow understands the human psyche and the challenges that come with self-discipline. It takes the guesswork out of the equation, providing a structured, effortless routine that requires minimal effort on your part. No more struggling to maintain focus or worrying about timing – Dodow has got you covered. 🙌
Created by insomniacs for insomniacs, Dodow is a testament to the power of innovation and the relentless pursuit of a good night's sleep. With its soothing blue light, gentle guidance, and user-friendly design, it's no wonder this little device has captured the hearts (and sweet dreams) of over a million users worldwide. 💤
Embrace the lullaby of Dodow, and bid farewell to sleepless nights. Prepare to wake up refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to conquer the day with newfound energy and clarity. Sweet dreams await, my friends! ✨🌟
5/15/19 the device stopped working last night, It no longer pulses but just gives a steady blue light. Unable to return due to time limitation. If the vendor sees this, please let me know if I might be doing something wrong.
Original Review
it usually works. Seems overpriced for what it is but not for what it does. Worth a try for anyone with sleep problems.
