Introducing Model One Digital
Balancing style, technology, and audio quality, the Model One Digital is a radio for the modern era. It delivers a new spin on the original Model One by offering FM, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. It merges the simplistic elements and user-friendly features of the original, but with a tech refresh. The digital navigation screen and multi-operational dial makes changing stations or streaming playlist simple. With its classic style, the Model One Digital is the perfect complement to your home.
Part of what made the original Model One such an icon piece was its knob. This was not lost upon Tivoli Audio when designing this smooth, brushed aluminium multi-operational knob. Whether changing your FM station, the song on your Spotify playlist or saving a Preset this knob, and its TFT true color display, brings the Model One legacy into the future.
Tune FM, stream CD quality music from services, such as Spotify, Deezer, Tidal, QQ and your own personal library via your standard home wireless network. If you have more than one ART by Tivoli Audio speaker you can configure your audio experience to be a Mono, Stereo or Multi-speaker setup.
Easy to access controls
In addition to the multi-operational knob the Model One Digital is equipped with a multi-function Volume and Source knob, and Add/Drop controls to cycle through music playing elsewhere on your network.
Tivoli Audio ART App
Easily setup and control your Cube using the Tivoli Audio Wireless App on any iOS or Android device. This App gives you the power to control any and all ART speakers on our Wi-Fi network and quickly create multi speaker and multi zone configurations.

I'm an audiophile, and I was looking for a high-end radio for my night table. I like to listen to music at night while I read, and wake up to music in the morning. However, the sound quality is horrendous. Far too much artificial bass makes my music incomprehensible at lower volumes. At night, I don't need a loud system to fill my room with music. I have dedicated stereo for that. I want discrete bedside listening to transition me to and from sleep. This radio fails in that regard.
The backlit LCD is too bright for a darkened bedroom, and the sound is unrefined and on par with a second-rate mega bass bluetooth speaker. The radio doesn't have any of the features of a traditional clock radio (alarm, snooze, etc), so why make it so the display is always on? I have enough electronic gadgets to show me the time. Just because it's easy to implement doesn't mean it's the right design decision.
The app that's required to configure the wifi crashes on my Moto X Pure, so I had to dig out my old phone to set it up. Spotify Connect works haphazardly at best, so I resort to streaming from my phone via Bluetooth. As a streaming device, the radio leaves much to be desired.
tl;dr: bad sound at low volumes, bright display at night, and poor app/wifi implementation prevent this radio from being my night table companion.
Some of the controls in this unusual design work better than others. Volume level works well and the setting is saved when the Model One Digital is switched off. Radio tuning is easily done by turning the large steel ring that surrounds the circular display. That display can be a problem for a table radio because it is difficult to read when the unit is well below eye level as it would be on a kitchen counter (as opposed to a desk with the user seated). You need to bend or stoop to see it clearly. There are some functions requiring a press of the tuning ring, which requires a lot of force and a firm hand to hold the unit steady while you click the ring.
I did not test performance with Bluetooth or Auxiliary input, but multiple presses of the power/volume button allow cycling easily through the functions. Listening to internet radio stations requires use of a computerized device and an app from Tivoli. I installed the app on an iPod Touch and I also needed to use the TuneIn service to choose internet stations. Once you set a station and set the Model One to play, it will continue and the iPod, iPad, Android device, etc. is not needed unless...
Well, a big problem pops up at this point because switching to FM or turning off the Model One dumps the internet station out of memory immediately. You need to launch the app on your other device and set it up again. There is no ability to save favorite internet stations as presets either. I contacted Tivoli's very responsive tech support via email and they confirmed this as normal behavior, saying they may change things in a future update. To make matters a bit worse, my unit lost connection to my home network several times during the 3 days I had the Model One. (I have an iPad and an Apple TV, neither of which have this issue.)
So I would recommend the Model One mainly for its looks and sound quality as an FM table radio. I returned mine because I want an easy to use internet radio as well.
