Editorial Reviews

The double CD set brings together all 19 remixes that form the band's current 12" vinyl singles series. The track listing of the CD also mirrors the same sequence as the 12" vinyl releases.

Any reviewer comparing TKOL RMX 1234567 to past Radiohead albums is not only missing the point but doing this particular work a great disservice. This is electronic music, not rock music. It's as far from "OK Computer" and "The Bends" as any music could be. While hardly the most novel collection of remixes ever assembled, TKOL RMX is very enjoyable. I find it's perfectly suited to background music while working. A few of the remixes stand apart from the rest (Blawan's version of "Bloom" comes to mind), but when taken as one (very large) wash of sound, it's a rewarding sonic swimming pool to wade through.

people here seem to be confused as to what this is. it's well known that Radiohead, or at least Thom Yorke, are HUGE techno/electronic music fans. So they've enlisted their favorite producers from a variety of genres to have a go at various 'TKOL' tracks, that is the extent of their involvement. If you are not a fan of techno music you probably won't like this, if you are, there are some of the best current producers out there on this, and they do some interesting stuff with 'TKOL' source material. I'm not sure we needed to hear 4 or 5 versions of 'Bloom' but it's very cool. But please take it for what it is, Radiohead letting some of their favorite artists tweak the 'TKOL' material. It's NOT a new Radiohead cd....

Let's be honest, this album is not going to appeal to very many souls, period. However, for those it does indeed resonate with, the effect is blissful. Behold 'The King of Limbs', an already obscure, dubbed-up, rhythmically complex masterstroke of an album reworked, cut, recombined, distoted, amplified, and tweaked to the nth degree by IDM luminaries such as Modeselektor, Four Tet, etc. This is the very vanguard of electronic music, rich twisted timbral complexity placated by sonorous Yorkean falsetto.

Noone, NOONE, is as creative as these guys, and I love this stuff. I realize it may be too "weird" for some ears. Considering that I also love Massive Attack, all I can say is that I really love English guys who go nuts in the studio. They seem to feel no need to deliver the usual chirpy, "positive" music or to have to "rock" everyone that so many bands strive toward in order to be "commercial." I've heard all that before; Radiohead gives me an experience, something new and interesting. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, but my god is it interesting! And when they do connect, it's awesome (check out "Seperator" on Disc 2, it's spooky-wild). I don't think what they did to Codex worked, but many other tracks did. Codex needed no remix, it's a gorgeous, mind-bending track as is. As long as these guys are creating, I'm there with a pre-order.

This is not a bad album, just disappointing. Radiohead is a fascinating choice of band to remix. But the tracks go from fantastic (the Mokeskelktor remix) to fairly ordinary to uninteresting. If you're a real fan of Radiohead or remixes, a few of the tracks are worth it. Otherwise, I'd skip it.

The King of Limbs was OK. These remixes are awesome. I have two monitors. On one of them, I open TKOL in Windows Media Player and run the Battery > Randomizer visual effects. On the other monitor I work... for hours.... glancing from time to time at the effects. This is techno music at it's best. You have to like a bit of glitches here and there, but the beats are phenomenal. And boy, is it inspirational to work to..........

Yo I read some of the other reviews hating this album and one person said if your a true radiohead fan you won't like this. Do you know that radiohead had to approve of this album? Yeah its techno and electro but every single track is amazing. I can listen to it from front to back and I think if you appreciate radiohead you will love this album its sounds so different from king of limbs but sounds so freaking great! Buy this album true radiohead fans you won't regret it.

Although anything from Radiohead is tops in my book, this is clearly a bargian for the amount and quality of remixes from TKOL album. Highly recommend.
