Chefman RJ06 2-Slice Stainless-Steel Toaster: Attractively housed in brushed stainless steel, this Chefman two-slice toaster features extra-wide slots that make it easy to toast thin or thick slices of just about anything-from homemade cinnamon-raisin bread or garlic-and-onion bagel halves to hamburger buns, English muffins, or-best of all-frozen waffles: bring on the maple syrup. The unit's user-friendly control panel offers six buttons for choosing the function. Select Toast, Bagel, Frozen (defrosts before toasting), or Warm (warms previously toasted items). A button for Cancel allows for ending the session at any time. There's also a dial for adjusting the shade light to dark results. Simply add the food to be toasted and push down on the bread-carriage lever. The unit's dual auto-adjusting bread guides center the food for even toasting, while its advanced toasting technology ensures consistent results. After the desired level of darkness has been reached, the food pops up automatically. Other design details include a high-lift lever that raises even small items high enough for safe retrieval, a removable dishwasher-safe crumb tray for quick cleanup.

This morning I tried repeating how I had successfully made yesterday's bagel. I set the dial to 5, pushed it down and when it came up it was burned and inedible.
There is no way to predict what you will get each time you put something in this toaster. I only bought it because the price was so cheap, I've learned my lesson though and I am currently shopping for a more expensive and well rated toaster. I suggest you do the same.
After reading dozens of reviews and asking for recommendations, we bought this Chefman toaster when our old one bit the dust during our last move. For a while, it worked very nicely: set the desired toasting level, lower the bread, and enjoy. The bagel function worked pretty well, too (you have to face the interior face of the bagel outwards). The crumb tray was easy to remove, and the whole toaster was easy to keep clean with little maintenance.
Within a few months, the mechanism to pop the bread up got stuck. Basically, something got bent at the back, so the front of the bread slot pops up, but the back is stuck. This meant a lot of accidentally burning ourselves trying to get the bread out (or in my case, risking my life trying to get it out with a bread knife--yes, I know it's a bad idea). Soon after that, the toaster would occasionally not shut off, resulting in us forgetting we made toast and finding it burned beyond recognition. It was very infrequently, but it meant standing around and waiting for the toast to be done. Finally, the settings stopped working properly and we had to make everything on the lowest setting or it would burn.
After about a year, the toaster broke down even more and would burn everything to a crisp on the lowest setting. It would happen quickly enough that it was almost impossible to guess when the toast was done. We replaced it immediately with the same toaster, but a week later, my partner's brother bought him a Waring Commercial toaster for him birthday (my partner had just been ranting about our broken toaster). So far, the Waring has been wonderful; it's too big for our tiny apartment because it's a 4-slice instead of a 2-slice, and it doesn't have a bagel setting, but it works beautifully. We gave the newest Chefman to a friend of mine who was toaster-less, and she uses it infrequently enough that it might last longer than our first one lasted us.
After several species reassignment surgeries and a hand full of disappointments, I staggered into the store on what were now my "hooves".
I don't know what drew me into the home goods section, but when I saw the Chefman 2 Slice Stainless Steel Toaster with Illuminated LED Buttons model RJ06 I fell to my knees. This was it. This was the missing piece. My heart is whole now, and I can have toasted bread!
I really like the rounded design and brushed metal. The cord is long enough but located strangely in the front instead of the back. The crumb tray could also be a little deeper.
So far I've toasted fresh bagels, frozen bagels, frozen waffles, English muffins and thin pumpernickle. It can accomodate the widest bagels, although it is not quite deep enough to toast the entire fresh bagel. Frozen bagels are smaller so it does toast those entirely. It toasts evenly and everything is nice and crisp. I usually set the dial to 6 or 7 as I like everything extra toasted.
I only gave it 4 stars as I haven't had the toaster very long. If it lasts more than two years I add another star ;)
