Classy Soft Flame Lighter at a Great Value

I own zippos and a xikar, primarily used for tobacco pipe smoking (soft flame lighters). I received this lighter yesterday and am very impressed by it's quality and performance thus far. It's weight in hand is substantial for it's size (don't feel cheap) and all the parts work flawlessly. It has a wonderful rustic/vintage appeal. I haven't stopped playing with mine since opening the mail. It's worth noting that it comes in a great little case that would make presenting this as a gift a no-brainer. I plan to order more soon to present to friends and family. If you're ordering the gold, you will receive a lighter like the image which resembles more of a brass or antique gold- not flashy gold. Highly recommend. Will update if any problems in the future.

I loved the styling of this lighter since I first saw it in a shop a year ago. Since I recently rekindled my pipe-smoking, I decided it was time to go ahead and get it. I ordered it and it was a total dud- it felt sloppy and spewed butane everywhere when I tried to fill it, and just 'hissed' out whatever managed to get inside it w/in a few minutes.

After further reading all the reviews after this, I noticed while there were may positive, there were a couple rather negative ones- given it is made in China and is a Corona knockoff, I figured there was a small-ish percentage of possibly just getting a bad one from the lot. I was proven correct in my assumption. I returned the defective one to Amazon and immediately ordered another- The new one works flawlessly, and the lighter has a great weight in the hand. I love it. (it is much better than a much more expensive Lotus pipe lighter a former girlfriend bought me once).

I am of the mindset that wooden matches are fine enough, but I am a sucker for cool vintage styling, and this lighter fits that bill- plus I have a little less scorching of fingertips ;) - So this has become my new favorite pipe accessory. I only knocked off one star because of the odds of getting a faulty one, while I deem minimal, are there (as in my case).

My only advice to buyers, is to be sure there is a replacement policy in place for your purchase in case you get a dud first try like I did. If you don't land a dud- you have a wonderful lighter in your hands.

Easy to fill and works every time

I never thought that I would prefer any gas lighter to my Zippo but I do with this one. Easy to fill and works every time. I have about 20 different gas lighters and they are all in an old box because of problems with refilling and with the electronic ignition not working good enough. Not so with this one. had it about 3 months and it still works perfect.

I read almost all of the reviews and then i watched youtube.. The reviewers on Youtube must be lunatics. They talked about everything from the cardboard box to the little hole that the gas comes out of. They didn't mention that it is totally useless in lighting a pipe. It is true that you can crank up the flame but then you are heating up the flint wheel not to mention your fingers. it's okay for lighting cigarettes but then what the heck do you need a lighter for. BIC will give you the same flame for .25 cents.

My wife bought me this for my birthday, I was so excited. I filled it and slid into my pocket that next morning for work. I showed it to everyone at work. That night I went to light my first pipe with it,and I noticed the screen that holds the flint in was severely bent. I decided to leave it alone, no such luck next time I went to light it was broken. Great looks cheaply made. Very disappointed.
