This book, although funny and welcome in many ways also leaves you towards the end with the impression that there's nothing positive with parenting a toddler and you just need to get past these horrible years. For parents who sometimes are really, REALLY struggling with a toddler, I got the impression that the repeated negativity, even though meant to be funny, could act like a poison rather than a comic relief. And same goes with criticizing the "sanctiparent" who supposedly looks down on your poor parenting, maybe it was just for comedy purposes but I thought this was kind of a negative judgmental aspect in this book that I could have done without. I felt a LOT of hatred towards other mom with different parenting because "we feel judge by them". Most of the the time moms are very supportive of each other EVEN THOUGH they disagree with each other's parenting and may judge each other behind closed doors because it is just hard to have toddlers and we all know it. I Found that the sanctiparent was probably a better representation of the mind of moms who sometimes, because they don't think they are doing a good enough job, imagine that other moms are looking down on them. Most other moms aren't that committed in your life, they are busy chasing their own toddler ! Still this book did make me laugh and I do believe that for those of us who feel like terrible parents sometimes, this is a welcome comic relief. But I do believe that if you are prone to negativity, this book might have a two sided effect (make you laugh at first but then make you kinda more miserable...) Just a thought
