Good in things, but not by itself

I very recently became lactose intolerant, so the taste of real cream cheese is fresh in my mind. And cream cheese is one of my very favorite things.
That being said, I will purchase this product again. I have found use for it but I also give strong cautions. I would not eat this plain spread on a bagel. It is hard to miss the strange aftertaste and it lacks the tang that is one thing that makes real cream cheese so great. I've had great success spreading it on sandwiches where there were other flavor elements. It does have a great creamy texture. I spread it on one half of a bagel, sprinkled it with black pepper and garlic powder, topped it with spinach, tofurkey slices, and a good spicy mustard on the other half of the bagel. The mustard does wonders to cut the weird taste of the Tofutti, so I highly recommend this.
I've also mixed it with chopped garlic, onion, spices, and aromatics and spread it on potatoes that I was roasting. If it gets roasted a little bit along with the potato then the weird aftertaste seems to go away.
The bottom line with this product: It's not really great tasting (though not exactly bad), but the texture is nice, and it can be a great success when combined with flavorful additions.
