Isaac is the director of the Rainbow Federation, an LGBTQ youth center in Lisbon, Portugal. While attending a LGBTQ conference hosted by his friends in New York City, Isaac suffers smoke inhalation when a fire breaks out in the conference center, and is rescued by Max Frank, a local nurse and LGBTQ activist. The two men are immediately captivated by each other, and soon the sparks of attraction burns into the fire of desire. Leaving soon afterward to return to Lisbon, however, Isaac must settle for a long-distance friendship. Communication information is exchanged between the two. Unfortunately, it seems as if Fate has a different idea of what romance is, because Isaac and Max sadly lose touch with each other for the next six months. Meeting up again in Lisbon, the two men are left to wonder if the torrid attraction they once had for each other was imagined.
Together Again is brilliantly written - indeed the emotional depth of what Max and Isaac feel for each other is phenomenal. The reader is treated to a fast-paced and realistic plot mixed in with two very well-developed main characters and a plethora of strong secondary characters. This combination gives the book a sense of sometimes painful reality, but also a feeling of hope - that love and happiness in the future is a very strong possibility, but we must fight for the love that we feel.
I was especially impressed by the way Ana Ashley melded the experiences of David and Joel, the main characters in Home Again (Finding You Book 1), with the events that occur in the lives of Max and Isaac. This made for a more realistic and believable story. Most importantly, however, I loved the sense of family in this book - and in Home Again, as well. Ana Ashley writes with such an ingrained awareness of how astronomically important this sense of family is for the well-being of people in love. Of course we see also that one doesn't have to necessarily be related by blood to be considered "family", and this perception is very relevant in this wonderful book!
I very much enjoyed Together Again... this book is everything a romance novel SHOULD be!! Highly recommended!! 5 stars, definitely!!
