I am a reborn again Disney fan, after having my own family now. First trip was back in 76, then early 80s, and again in 86. Memories of all the old rides and shows came flooding back upon reading their stories. My 3 boys 10, 8 and 4 have all gone 3 times now, they are spoiled but love it.
I would recommend this book to any Disney fan, especially those who visited back in the late 70's. It truly brings back memories. I had the pleasure of meeting the Authors at a local event that R.J. had a big hand in creating this past weekend. It was a pleasure to meet both of them, so nice, we chatted for a bit and they gave plenty of attention to my 2 older boys Then we went into the Haunted house R.J. had a significant hand in coming to life. So – while talking with them (Suzanne and R.J.) I let them know where I was in the first book, Suzanne informed me that the sad parts were coming up, it was like having a live narrator to the story, Monday on the train to work I hit the sections and wow…bummer. (it was crazy as I read, I could hear them telling me their stories in their voices, I so felt like I was part of their stories)
Now, after meeting the authors, I find out I have a couple of other connections to them. With their theater involvement. R.J. had just wrapped up performing with one of my friends (small world) And now that I have started the next book (The Design of Fear) I have another local connection.
Thank you again for signing my copies and I look forward to more from both of you.
Also I will plug – do a search on Facebook for his fan pages, the pics and posts are so fun to read.
While other Books on the world Disney may present facts, statistics, and anecdotes of behind the scenes life at the Park, this book has an added dimension. It has love. Forget the oft repeated stating of the most magical place on earth. That sounds like a manufactured saying, and a Disney enforced attitude. It goes well beyond just a saying here.
You can tell these authors loved their Disney life. It shows in every chapter. Their love of the Disney life is so infectious, you’ll end up loving it too. What a world it would be if everyone enjoyed their careers as these two.
