Best serrated knive I have ever used. I have been cooking professionally for 15 years & this is by far the best serrated knife I have ever used. Forshner, Wushof, Henkel, Shun, Messermiser, Dexter/Russell, not of then can come close to the level of comfort & ease of use I get from this knife. I use this knife for slicing Prime Rib, Tomatoes, Onions, Shredding Lettuce, & yes, bread. Makes short work of anything I throw at it.
This is my second one, as I actually broke my first one(used for over 4 years) slicing apart frozen pork ribs. I know, stupid mistake, but it was working beautifully until I snapped it in two. Had to go back to my Wusthof grand Prix serrated for a couple of weeks, & man, it was NOT the same. I pined for my Tojiro every time I had to use a serrated knife. So happy to have one again!!!!!

This imo its the best bread knife you can get, im not an chef nor i cook much, i just enjoy eating baguette too much. I can make it as thin as i want, really amazing how easy is to cut baguettes or any bread. The handle is very comfortable the size is a little bigger than i like, but understandable for all those bakery chefs. The packing was great, and the seller (Cutlery and More) ship very fast and was extremely secure with bubble wrap + paper all around, beside their respective boxes.

I also own a MAC and i would say they are very comparable in quality size and design, weather its worth the $30 for the MAC idk, its up to each user, personally i think this is a much better buy, i consider $60 to be a good investment specially for a bread lover.

Excellent! Sharp enough out of the box to cut through paper. Not just tear paper, but acually slice through it with no lateral motion. Went around cutting bread and other random stuff I could find just to test it out and was thoroughly impressed. I never knew a bread knife could be this sharp. It was designed to mimic of the renowned MAC Superior bread knife, but like just about everything Tojiro makes, it's of equal quality to the higher priced brands, and the best value you'll ever find for the price (I also own the Tojiro 8.2" gyutou and compare it very favorably with some Shuns and Globals I own, and would highly recommend it as well).

I own 5 Tojiro DP knives (all are excellent, especially the nakiri knife!), and an Enso HD santoku (Yaxell), just to give a bit of an idea of what else I've worked with.

Sharpness:
This knife is incredibly sharp, especially for a serrated knife. Be careful with this one. The first time I was cutting hamburger buns with it, I was a bit sloppy and careless. I could easily have taken off my finger tip if my fingernail didn't get in the way (I guess that's what fingernails are for, right?) I was not expecting it to be that sharp because usually serrations are not really "sharp," per se. Another reviewer commented that this knife could cut (not tear) paper. All my Tojiro knives can; but I was surprised, again, that this serrated blade also could.

Not just a bread knife?:
I think, though I have not yet tried it, that you could actually use this knife as a carving knife for your Thanksgiving turkey or slice up that large Christmas ham. Typically you wouldn't use a serrated blade for that purpose, but I think this one is so sharp that it would work just like a carving/slicing knife. I'll try it in a few months, and update this review!

Size and feel:
This knife is very large. It dwarfs my 8 inch chef's knife on the magnet strip. I can't imagine the loaf of bread too large to be cut by this knife. I could have probably gotten away with a smaller blade than this, but if I was a professional baker, I would definitely buy this again. I can imagine this would be good for dealing with large cakes (making layer cakes out of an 8 inch round cake, etc.) and the like, too.

My only minor complaint, which might be a bit unfair because it's such a large knife, is that this knife doesn't have the same solid feel as my other Tojiro DP knives.

Im not a chef of any kind, but I love buying artisan breads at my local farmers market. This knife makes short work of morning bagel slicing and afternoon sandwich bread cutting. I love the quality of all my Tojiro knives, I find the blades comparable to a friend's Shun set.

If you've never owned a Tojiro knife you won't believe just how good a knife can be and how much easier it makes life in the kitchen! Over many years I've used lots of top of the line knives, mostly european, and after using this bread knife I'm switching all my cutlery to Tojiro. I bake bagels, ciabatta, artisan hard crust breads and rolls and this cuts through them cleanly and with incredible ease. I also use it at times to cut tomatoes or other things I want sliced thinly and it does it all with little effort.

I am also relieved to find knives that take so little effort to use since arthritis is making doing things with my wrist and hands difficult. HIghly highly recommend all Tojiro knives as top quality and very reasonable price.

I've slowly been replacing my kitchen knives with Tojiro over the past year, and they are very well made and hold an edge like I've never seen before. This is the only serrated knife I have and doesn't get used much, but it's razor sharp out of the box and I expect it to stay that way for some time
