Product Description

Tom Clancy’s The Division is a ground-breaking RPG experience that brings the genre into a modern military setting for the first time. In the wake of a devastating pandemic that sweeps through New York City, basic services fail one by one, and without access to food or water, the city quickly descends into chaos. As an agent of The Division, you’ll specialize, modify, and level up your gear, weapons, and skills to take back New York on your own terms.

First, a quick rating in 1-5 stars *

Lots of praise to this game despite some very bitter remarks in this review. I still play this game despite how stoooopid this game can be but as a genuine RPG lover I already know how to enjoy the good and endure the bad that comes with all RPGs. Bad things such as ridiculous damage sponge enemies, level difference penalties, unrealistic combat, hordes of enemies, enemy spawn nonsense, insane sick disgusting difficulty one moment and then super easy difficulty the next moment, death penalties, item costs, gear rarity issues, and general issues with leveling balances or progress impediments. Yep, this is an RPG through and through!!

Animations: **
-Enemies often move, idle, run and die in very comical ways. In fact, you might watch the enemies and think aloud, "What was that? Seriously???" For example, some of the gangsters wiggle and bobble like a cross between boxers hopping around like Muhammad Ali and zombies scrambling or shuffling. Not exaggerating. Memorizing enemy animations is key to headshot skills, so believe me, these animations are borderline silly at times.

Shooting/Smoothness: *****
-The gun mechanics are buttery smooth. Not only are there no complaints, but this game achieves what I only wish other similar games like Borderlands tried to do. Some games people just can't get the knack of, but in this game whether I used a shotgun, sniper rifle, machine gun or pistol, I felt epic and the shooting was incredible

RPG Elements: ****
-This game is VERY similar in game play and RPG mixture styles to Borderlands and Destiny. Loved Borderlands but hated its shooting, all around hated Destiny. This game is takes the best.

Caveat Emptor/Buyer Beware:

Having put 94 hours into the game, you'd think I'd probably have enjoyed it. And I did, for the time I was allowed to do so. But unfortunately this game is unplayable for me and a subset of The Division player base. As I type, I am currently stuck on the "connecting [username]" screen, the screen you encounter right before you get to the character select. MMO's are predicated on the ability of the developer and publisher to accomplish two basic primary tasks:

1. Provide access to your account (the service you are purchasing) with reasonable interruptions
2. Save your progress with reasonable losses (character rollbacks, etc)

So far, Ubisoft has failed to meet these two basic criteria and I cannot in good conscious recommend anyone purchasing or continuing to spend time playing the game until the issue is sufficiently addressed. You can literally lose access to your account at any moment, and there has been little communication about what the issue is and when account access will (or can) be restored.

For more information, you can see the offical thread on the forums as proof: [...]

When the game first came out, it was a lot of fun. It was great to explore the world and do the missions and all that sort of thing. As time has gone on the game has gotten more and more out of the hands of Massive and Ubisoft and now hackers control the game and playing it is a nightmare.

You simply cannot go into the DarkZone on pc without being accosted by hackers at every turn. This was a problem back in the initial beta's for the game and nothing has changed and hackers still run rough shod over the darkzone with no end in sight. The thing that's most infuriating is the fact that ubisoft and massive has the audacity to complain about people using exploits in the game and how they are going to come down hard on them but have to date not mentioned or said anything about the hacking situation or how they intend to fix it. Ubisoft and Massive made a buggy games that's easy to exploit and they are trying to DARVO the community and play the victim when it is they who have knowingly been complicit in regards to the issues in the game since well before launch.

The expanded "Incursion" missions are so ridiculously hard that it is nearly impossible to beat them and the rewards for doing it are so small that it is more work than fun or adventure and simply not worth the time and effort. The meta game is an absolute waste of time because its all RNG based and 9 times out of 10 you end up with useless garbage that does you no good, not even on the level of breaking it down for crafting.

I would not recommend this game at all until Ubisoft and Massive come forward and apologize for the shameful way they've ignored the hacking issues and done nothing to fix the problems plaguing the game.

This game is not worth the money or the time unless Ubi fixes the hacker issues, which as it stands today, isnt likely to happen ever.

The game is great. Maybe some people just need to let go of all the initial release bugs on every game and let it run it's course. This is why I refuse to buy games brand new, and will wait until they go on sale 6 months or more later. For hardcore online player, YOU STILL NEED TO PROGRESS THROUGH THE STORY!

If you have never progressed through the story mode alone, I suggest you try it on hard, with no help. Also, in order to get the full story - YOU HAVE TO GET THE INTEL AND PAY ATTENTION TO IT! There is no way this game is 'boring" - as I saw a one star review write (that was the whole review btw). There is so much to do and so much content with room for more. Once you are done with the story, try the dark zone. But seriously, read a walk-through, or a how to and figure out how to play it before you just give up and go all negative.

All the negative reviews are typical idiots. They either did not check their specs, or cannot DL the game through a fault of their own. Use common sense. It took me about an hour to DL the game, not using wifi, and installed perfectly. Check the minimum requirement and make sure your connection is good because there is no refund for digital content like this, and there should not be. It's your fault past that point.

I feel I should mention that I have no desire to play in the dark zone, or online for that matter at all. I have done a couple group missions on hard, and its just stupid. 6000 headshots by multiple people and they usually all leave after dying 100 times is just not worth it. This game has potential, but since I hate ubisoft so much, I can see where a lot was left out. It's a fun play through, just don't expect much after that. Took me a couple weeks to beat. I just wish it was more realistic.
