The book starts of with firing up the various story lines, that is a bit confusing, especially when you have to break up your reading session in the middle of the chapter. You're finding yourself flipping back pages to reiterate where you left off.
But once the scene is set, the plot unfolds and you really start getting into the heads and lives of the characters. Characters you love to hate.
The end of the book feels a bit like finishing up. As if there was a max number of pages that could be filled. As usually found in American action movies. Unlike The Hunted, where it wasn't clear if there would be a happy ending, The Missing is clearly all about showing off American dominance in the war arena. Which is too bad, as it hampers the Endwar universe to become truly emmersive.
I love Technology but in the end it is about people and even though you hate the Snow Maiden through most of the book, she grows on you.
This book goes beyond the headlines and gives scenarios of what could happen, when, where and why.
Keep up the good work Peter! When I the next one coming out now that Tom Clancy has died?
