I am a HUGE Jobim fan, but this dreadful DVD is just that. It looks like it's one of three DVDs that are produced by the same shoddy production company. Each have a cool picture of Jobim on the cover -- promising a real documentary. Inside it's mostly atrociously filmed and recorded live stage performances of Jobim in his final few years. As I said, VERY badly recorded. Why bother making these DVDs? It looks like a scam. What a disappointment. Do not waste your money, or time. Better listen to his remarkable CDs.

If you love Brazilian music, or are even just getting acquainted with it, this DVD is a must-see! The greatest Brazilian composer of popular music of the 20th century, Tom Jobim, is highlighted playing many of his most-loved tunes, as well as some fine, but not well-known compositions. But other top, top musicians also appear, including Gal Costa, Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Caetano, Paulinho da Viola, Vinicius de Moraes, Paula Morelenbaum, Gilberto Gil and Toquinho. Also, Tom's son Paulo, and (adult) grandchildren play with him. His son, Paulo, not only plays and sings in this film, but was also its artistic director. Only João Gilberto is missing. Nelson Motta gives a terrific talk about Jobim and the history and importance of bossa nova. Get the picture? This is an intimate, loving look at a legend. Excellent though it is, it is even surpassed by its companion film: "Tom Jobim, Waters Of March."

this is perhaps the best dvd on Tom Jobim
it just has so much on it that its a real shame if u love Tom or boss nova and dont own this
the family and the production company went out of their way to include rare songs and performances from Jobim as well as other Brazillian figures who helped put bossa nova on the map and at least 3 performances of Banda Nova and Quarteto Morlenbaum
everythibg is heart felt and sincere as Ana Jobim even helped with production of this dvd
