Also having the music functionality is great! Pairs easily with my Bluetooth headphones.
A simple activity watch that does what it says with no unneeded features.
The software for my computer works well and I can upload iTunes playlists in seconds! I've put a few books and some music on the device. One thing could be improved would be to allow you to "seek" through an audiobook. I either had to complete a chapter or when I stopped the book, I'd just have to pick up at that location on another device which can seek. That being said, it pairs with bluetooth headphones quickly and works well.
I love the watch so far! It does everything I need it to, and I can buy another one for my fiancée and still have spent less than getting an Apple Watch.
This new version is much like the old, with an updated button control, band, and a lot of added features.
The new band has been nice, though I don't feel it's any better or worse than the old design.
Navigating the menus is easy and intuitive. GPS signal pick up is fast and accurate, though it does tend to show about .05 of a mile shorter than competing Garmin watches.
Even when the temps dip to -7F the battery keeps chugging along. Speaking of, battery life is excellent, and improved over early versions. I was able to keep the watch active with GPS and HR over an 8-hr trail race.
The latest updates have added the ability to get notifications from your phone as well, meaning you can read text messages and are notified of incoming phone calls.
Negatives? manual lap functionality needs to be reworked, its the only function other than turning on the backlight that relies on a touch sensor, but get it wet or using sweaty fingers means it doesn't work as advertised. This is a major point of irritation. Instant pacing calculations are worse than on my original watch, regularly registering 5-10 seconds slower per mile (running) than actual.
I have not used the route tracking or music function yet, so I won't comment on those, but the ability to preprogram and upload a route to get turn by turn directions, and listen to music straight from the watch is a really nice feature to have, especially at this price point.
The app continues to improve with really good metrics tracking and seamless strava (et al) integration, and phone communication.
