I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for a fun and exciting adventure to go on. Opening the pages of The Tomb by David Wood and Rick Chesler I found just that. I also love treasure hunts. Dane Maddock and Uriah "Bones" Bonebrake set out to discover the tomb of Alaric 1 and his treasure. As you would expect on any good treasure hunt, there has to be an evil adversary and his henchmen to contend with. Wood and Chesler has written an exciting adventure woven with humor and twists and turns that will keep you turning pages. For adventure lovers like myself, I recommend picking up a copy and go on a treasure hunt with Maddock and Bones. A great beach read. Five adventuresome stars.

Good action adventure. Anyone who enjoys action adventure will enjoy the writing of David Wood. Pay more attention when proof reading, several writing errors in this book.

Too short. I expected much more. Seems authors just doing bare minimum . To get another book sold.
Will probably drop as a preferred series to buy.

Another great Maddock read. Spoiler alert.

This one starts in Cosentia, Italy in 410 CE. The ruler of the Goths, Alaric has died and his brother in law Ataulf is seeing to his burial. Anyone connected to that burial will be killed. Alaric's tomb will be undiscovered. Some think they have an idea where it is, but so far, no one has found it.

Dane Mattock and Bones both ex Navy SEAL's are on the hunt for treasure off the coast of Italy. They run a marine salvage operation. They are in the treasure discovery business.

Willis Saunders and Matt Barnaby and ex Army Ranger, are also on the team. All are hard at work looking for treasure. Corey Dean the last member of the team is their computer guru and handled the technical systems they need to do a job. The grid they have marked out has yielded bits of swords, lances and other weapons. So far. No treasure.

They have a vacuum suction device that has cleared tons of sand and silt from the area. This is when they find. Matt has found a small metal box. The box looks old like an artifact. Once on the boat they open it.

That's when they find roman coins from the fifth century, a small dagger with a hilt made of gold, a jewel encrusted ornate cross, a hunk of gold shaped like an insect with two blue gemstones for eyes. Dane recognizes the bug as a scarab. They also find two flat metal sculptures shaped like falcons, so thin as to give them a two dimensional appearance. Each had a large hole in the center in addition to being perforated with several smaller holes.

Maddock knows the falcon as a pagan artifact, Visigoth, while the cross in Christian. The dagger has the name Flavius Honorius Agustus engraved on it. Maddock tells the others he thinks he knows who's treasure they just found. He's pretty sure it belonged to Alaric, the Visigoth who sacked Rome.

He and Bones decide to head to shore to a museum full of Visigoth artifacts to see if they are right.

So begins one damned fine read.

This one has Dane, Bones, Lina the curator of the Alaric Museum, Fabrizio Colombo from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage Activities and Tourism, the police, a Dane and Bones who lose the artifacts they brought with them to Colombo, a priest named Romano, a Dane, Bones and LIna who decide to look for Alaric's tomb, a woman named Bianca who is supposed to be a friend of Lina's, a Bianca who betrays her, a Roman she's having an affair with, a Dane, Bones and Lina who end up in caves, caves that offer a clue to the tomb's whereabouts, an old friend pops up, a kidnapped Rina, a Dane and Bones who find her, the caves where they find and empty tomb, a Dane, Bones and Rina who turn to Colombo for help and Dane, Bones and Rina who finally find a the tomb and its treasure.

Five Stars.

A fun read, with nothing too serious. A quick pallet cleanser. However, I was startled to see some obvious spelling and grammar errors.
