In anticipation to Panda Bear's 4th full length album, Tomboy, he is releasing a series of 7" records with two tracks on each release. For his first 7" of the series, the two tracks Tomboy and Slow Motion are featured and were released off of the Animal Collective run label Paw Tracks. The songs reveal a change in direction from his previous efforts yet can still easily be identified as Panda Bear tracks. Driven minimally by only guitar, voice, and a single drum loop, the songs tend to give off a more rock/ambient vibe compared to Person Pitch's nostalgic sample collage. The vocals sound superb, and Panda Bear's trademark harmonies are as clear as ever as they are perfectly doused in reverb and delay. Field recordings are also incorporated into the mix revealing subtle details that may show themselves clearer through further listening. Anticipation is already rising as these two tracks have begun to circulate the internet over the past few days. Please don't forget to check out the future limited 7"s that will be released on such labels as Domino, Kompakt, and Fat Cat in the months to come!

This is a great start for Tomboy, a highly anticipated album from Noah Lennox (aka Panda Bear). If you listened to what is sure to be a classic album, Person Pitch...you will probably enjoy these 2 tracks "Tomboy" and "Slow Motion". They have a Person Pitch flavor, but with a bold new face. These tracks come from Panda Bear's upcoming 3rd studio lp. If you heard some of his previous music, you know how diverse and unique each record is.

The Tomboy Single is similiar to Person Pitch in that it has the familiar sampled beats, and noises in the background with that blissful, echoie, almost spiritual singing. One notable difference, is Panda Bear has added an electric guitar to his set for this album, and uses it drive the direction of the song.

"Tomboy" gives us a very direct guitar rift, filled with effects. Panda holds his notes long and hard, sort of playing with the harmony and chord progression. This song is a bit droney, but he uses his voice just right so it doesn't get boring.

"Slow Motion" is my favorite of the two thus far. It has a relentless back-beat. The song is driven mostly by the vocals, which are fueled by an immense amount of delay and reverb, that sort of echoe and overlap on eachother. Still Panda keeps the lyrics personal yet familiar with lines such as "So they say practice makes you perfect..." and "Everyone knows what they say..." echoing into oblivion.

If i were to rate Person Pitch, i would give it a 6 out of 6...simply because it may very well be the best work Noah Lennox will ever do in his solo career. Still Tomboy is promising, and this sneak peak shows us that he can still keep us on our toes and show us new things, but still give us that fuzzy, omg this is "the sound" feeling as PP did.

If you enjoyed Person Pitch, or are an A.C. fan of their latter albums, You will enjoy this single.

When I pre ordered this it was under $10 now that its out its up to $40......This is highway robbery considering it's just a 7 inch with two tracks on it. Yeah it might be "Limited Edition" but if people really want to hear these songs they're going to get them off itunes which is worse for the artist. In my humble opinion this is worth $15-$20.

The songs themselves are great....looking forward to more of these singles. Just make sure you pre-order them while their cheap.
