What more do you want me to say? It's a perfect replica of an NES controller with a USB connection. I have this hooked up to my Mac and if I feel like unwinding after a hard day's work with a round of Punch-Out!! or Metroid, I just fire up the NES emulator and I'm off to the races.
Anyone who says the build quality of this isn't the same as a real-deal NES controller is a little bit of a mutant. This thing is super cheap and NES controllers weren't the watermark of mankind's inventive mind so lets all just agree that for a few bucks you can play an 8-bit game on your computer and that's all that needs to be said.
Bonus Review: I re-downloaded a game from my youth that has haunted me for years. It's called Mighty Bomb Jack and I thought that if I got this game AND cheated with the Game Genie download I could finally put it to rest. No. I still can't beat it. So just to prevent myself from throwing the controller off the screen (which was a childhood move that I used to love) I'm going to just calmly walk away. That game is impossible and there is no need to have maddening circus music playing nonstop either. That's just cruel and unusual.

When I purchased this product I noticed what I received was not was is pictured. I received what the product description stated....a Tomee USB Classic NES controller which so far has worked fine. I do have a problem with this seller using a Retrolink product picture to sell their product! No wonder so many buyers are pi##ed. That is why I gave and overall three stars for now, because of the shady sale practices. For now, I am enjoying my classis NES games on my PC thanks to this controller. Updated 09/13/12...After playing more games with this controller, I have discovered that it is poorly made and I regret buying 2 of them. I didn't open the second one yet. When playing Contra, when you try and lay down to shoot, the guy aims diagonally and runs to the right which means the down button is screwed up! Do not waste your money, try and find an actual Retrolink controller, I hear they are made a little better.

This a great item to have if you grew up with the NES system. It looks and feels just like the real thing. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the control arrows are a bit touchy. When you press down, it sometimes goes to the right or left instead. It makes playing games like Mike Tyson's Punch Out a bit tough.
It's a lot of fun, though, and it is definitely worth the 15 bucks I paid for it. I highly recommend it for anyone who, like me, will always consider NES the best video game system ever made.
December 24th - update on controller...
About a week ago, the A button stuck and was difficult to use. It would un-stick itself after a while, but then after being pressed would get stuck again and so on. I got tired of Mario randomly jumping, so I took the controller apart and switched the A button with the B button. Now the B button gets stuck. But I figured I'd rather have Mario randomly shooting fire balls than jumping. Aside from that, it still works fine. While I had it apart, I turned around the arrows thinking that may possibly fix the issue I was having pressing the down arrow. It did not. The hardware itself must be a little fluky with that.
I still think it's worth the buy, but perhaps it should be around $10 at most. :)

First off, this is not the controller in the picture, but that being said it actually works better than my retrolink nes controller. It seems like it's just the luck of the draw with these controllers. I don't know the validity of the other reviews, but based on the reviews i was worried i had bought a decorative hunk of plastic so i quickly bought a retrolink. they ended up coming at the same time. I tried out the retrolink first and found it very unresponsive the with a and b buttons. I thought for sure the tomee would be worse, but i plugged it in a gave it a try. i think all i had to do was adjust the dead zone on the d-pad in the emulator and it's been working great. The only issue I've found is that i have to distinguish the direction on the d-pad a bit more than you'd naturally expect. could be my hands haven't gotten too big for my childhood controller. I apologize if this review sounds a bit repetitive and a bit of a ramble, but this is a good controller that as far as i can tell is getting a bad wrap. From what I've read you might still get a dud, but I'm only going on my experience.

Do not buy these controllers. They are useless. The Dpad doesn't work at all on these. If you push left your character will also move up or down. Same goes for right. I also can't recommend the Gtron controllers either. They are just as bad. All the four and five star reviews are from people who wright reviews after using these controllers for an hour or so. Once the rubber contacts under the buttons begin to get soft you'll notice it will become increasingly difficult to play any game. NES games need precision control in order to have any kind success at beating the game. Theses cheap USB controllers offer no such thing.

The d-Pad on this NES controller was very spongy. You could press the whole thing down at once if you wanted to. The A and B buttons are very light and knock against the PCB when pressed, which is nothing like the original controller. also, I've seen people say that this controller was either rubber or plastic for the Select and start buttons. I think this seller changes or has changed models before. I received a Tomee controller, not a retrolink or retrobit or other controller. The D-Pad being pressed in one direction can easily be moved slightly to the side to activate a corner, which is a bad thing for games such as Zelda where precise 4-way control is key. The controller works decently for platformers and beat-em-up games, but it's definitely not at a quality level that's even close to the original. Your best bet is to get an original NES controller and an Adapter. And although that would be more expensive, it's definitely the better way to go.

Bought two of these have read the top reviews - wish I'd bothered to read more recent reviews. The controllers I received were cheap and nasty tat - the plastic used was very poor quality - the buttons were very clicky and the sticker wasn't even put on correctly. I sent these straight back. Don't waste your money here - get a buffalo snes controller instead - they are top quality - you can feel the difference

I would rather not have this one and have a different one, but I paid £6 for it so I put up with it.

Well, what can I say?
I would rather not have this one and have a different one, but I paid £6 for it so I put up with it.
The D-pad is a bit unreliable; when you try to press right or left more often than not you perform a diagonal direction. This is a pain when playing a game with ladders (like Mega Man, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, Mega Man 4, Mega Man 5, Mega Man 6, and Super Mario) as you grab on to them when trying to walk past them.
I have used this game pad for over of 33 hours of game play.

Having a couple of great NES emulators I was hoping this controller would make it easy to play the games rather than use a keyboard. I was wrong! My keyboard is better than this and there are a couple of reasons why.
Firstly the d-pad is a mess, it doesn't like me going in a straight line, and it loves to sometimes not even move at all. And secondly the face buttons either work or just dont work at all. Ive had this thing for a day and already Ive thrown it in the bin.
I have read reviews on other NES usb controllers that cost nearly 20 quid, but if I was you I'd pay the £20 and at least get a better usb controller.

Perfect replica. Buttons and d-pad are spot on.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 23, 2015Verified Purchase
Perfect replica. Playing with a NES emulator running full screen, and this pad is pretty much indistinguishable from the real console.
The buttons feel spot on, and the dpad feels great. It comes from US so had to wait a couple weeks, but it's plug and play, and I was up and running in a couple of minutes.
I'm going to be trialling this with RetroPie, and for the longer term, will be setting this up on my Alienware Alpha.

It's what's advertised - a USB NES controller - but it isn't as reliable as it could be. I've had a lot of issues with the D-Pad, having to push down harder if I ever wanted to trigger the left arrow on it properly. Sometimes Start and Select can be a bit iffy as well. Mine may have just been worn down, as it never had these problems originally, but such problems soon arose after a fairly short period of use.
