Lecrae’s Reach Records continues its run of strong releases with KB’s (Kevin Burgess) second full-length album, and the follow-up to his 2014’s EP 100. The album was recorded in various location (Tampa, Atlanta, South Africa). It features strong production, powerful lyrics which ultimately offer a message of hope, and varied styles.

In interviews KB has said that he drew inspiration for the album from a trip to South Africa and that the album is a story that goes through the emotions of the day. Below are a few brief comments about each of the songs:

Rich Forever – features piano and acoustic guitar, this is a smooth jazzy/R&B song with an infectious beat. KB tells of growing up poor and that we will have riches in Heaven, which are better than riches in this world.

Sideways (featuring Lecrae) – this features a great beat as label owner Lecrae joins him on this excellent track, which looks at the way Christians are often seen by the world. My favorite track on the album.

They don't know what to do with us
Degree in theology raps for a livin'
Black man in first class that is reading the scriptures
I put my tray table up
Smile why they lookin' sideways?

And lately I've been hangin' in the hood
Everybody lookin' like what
You for the people, you pushin' back evil
Not just in the steeple, you out in the woods
Where the lions and the wolves at?

I Believe (featuring Mattie of For Today) – features a chanting crowd screaming “I believe we will win.” KB addresses subjects from breast cancer and racism to the hope of Heaven. Features a joyful African chorus with drums.

9 AM – a short interlude with wife and baby and a reference to Lecrae’s “Dirty Water” from Anomaly.

I love the music. I love KB. His music incorporates my favorite elements of CHH without compromise. I love that I can be taught, encouraged & worship as I listen. So many artists are specialists, they only really get, if you will, one element. Songs like Sideways & I Believe are absolute madness, and I love that. But then there are other tracks which just ... feel good? I don't really have a lot of experience with music that makes you feel good. Great, well rounded album.

I always like how KB continues to build and grow as an artist. His Tomorrow We Live project is a definite must cop with his flows carrying more weight in this project you can see where he is talking more to the culture of today and trying to point us to Christ!

This album gave me goose bumps man. God got his hands on this man and his album has ministered to me!!! Let me break it down ofr you
1. Kb comes in way hard with the amazing hooks he is known for and maybe some of his best ever
2. If you’re a gym rat that gets pumped to music this album has some blood pumping music that gets me going in the gym!!! (I destroyed my shoulders while listening to this today!!) pump up rating 5 stars out of 5 for “Sideways” “I Believe” “lights go out” (that one may be a 2-3 out of 5 for pump up but it pumps me up so I listed it)
3. Got some awesome beats to just chill and appreciate the family and God. The song “fall in love with you” and “lights go out” and Crowns and Thorns” so pleasing and calming
4. Has some old school sounding jazzy beats
5. This album is one of the most diverse rap albums I have heard in a while however he keeps it rock solid in his message Fam And God also he has a song for all my different moods that music usually accompanies
This album is a must for the rap lover that is also looking to grow in his faith without stepping on a false foothold. God has clearly anointed this man’s music. Thank you God for your blessings!!!!

KB definitely has talent. I do not feel like this has been his best work. I especially enjoyed Weight and Glory and it remains one of my favorites. This Album, like many from Reach Records, seems to be focused more on the art and sound than convicting lyrics as they did in the past (this is not to say the lyrics are bad in any way). I expect this though as their mission is not just for those to whom already believe and many times they decline to define themselves as "Christian Rappers" but Rappers that happen to be Christian. Still an album I would recommend.

KB... no doubt you are talented, gifted and very anointed! And you make meaningful music! I bought your EP 100 and I bought this Tomorrow We Live. It's just that... well... "You sound just like Lecrae." So I had to give you 3 stars.

It's a decent album but not on par with all of KB's other stuff. The songs do not encourage me to look to Christ quite like his previous albums did. Also, he branched out a bit, musically speaking, and I'm not a fan of his songs that don't fit the standard hip-hop mold.

The crew at Reach Records continues their string of top-notch albums in a huge way. KB brings it with amazing lyrics, tight beats, and topics you just don't hear in hip-hop outside of Reach. If you put a golfer on your single you must be fairly confident. Bubba lays it down though. I love this album!
