"Tomorrowland" is the perfect title for this collection; each of the stories focuses on a "things will be better when..." attitude in one way or another. With his sharp observation and lovable prose, Bates reveals that the perfect future maybe (okay, definitely) doesn't exist.
The best part of Tomorrowland, for me, is that you get the sense that each of these stories contains a true piece of the author. In each tale, you get a glimpse of something real and true, and you begin to feel that Bates is using these stories to expose hidden pieces of himself. That may or may not be the case, but either way, there's no denying the authenticity of the stories beneath the humor and drama.
I would recommend this book to anyone - and in fact I HAVE to everyone I know who appreciates good story-telling.
