I needed sterile tongue depressors. People complaining about the individually wrapped part should get the regular non sterile. I wanted these individually wrapped so they stay sterile.

If you get the in-home strep test kit, these work great to hold the tongue down so you can get a good throat swab. They're also great for general throat inspection, etc... Each one is individually wrapped, sterile. The wood is good and smooth... So far haven't run into any splinters. Overall a good high-quality product.

Believe it or not I use these for drywall repair. When repairing small holes I have found that I can glue one or two of these behind the wall with liquid nails and use it as a back support to keep the cutout replacement piece of drywall from falling inside the wall while patching. Much better than cutting a bigger hole from stud to stud to be able to nail down the drywall.

The first order I received in July were fine-- nicely wrapped, solid, and did not break. The SECOND order of the same item is awful -- some of them split right down the middle -- others are jagged on the edges. Was quality control on vacation when these were made??? There may not be a third order.

I don't understand why medical professionals would use tongue depressors that weren't in sterile packaging these days. Paying a few cents more to insure a clean tongue depressors is more than worth my AND my patients' satisfaction that I am not introducing a contaminated product into their mouth. Yes, yes, I know how unlikely an infection would result, but why not just be safe?

These tongue depressors are smooth and elicit no complaints - other than the knowledge that most patients wonder why their doctors aren't more careful not to make them gag! LOL. I have always educated my patients that I make them gag on purpose to check on cranial nerve function. Great, inexpensive tool for physicians. I hear you can also mix epoxy with them.

I use these to control my tongue when i am removing tonsil stones from my throat, i use them along with Q-tips or the longer medical wooden style ones. What else can i say about a pop stick ?

Anyone ever wonder who licked off all the ice cream to make all these ? lol

I used these for calling sticks with my students and rhythmic dictation activities. I guess I didn't read all the info to see that they were individually sealed. I guess that's great new for people in the medical profession. As a music teacher who needs to make 500 calling sticks to cover all the K-5 students in my entire school, that's A LOT of extra time unwrapping each one. I don't fault them for it, just making sure everyone else is aware. Otherwise, very good quality, only very very small variation between the sticks, nearly 100% smooth on all surfaces with only tiny rough spots on some.

I have a surgical wound on my upper back from removal of a skin cancer. The Silver Sulfate cream is applied by a stick (tongue depressor) to the non stick gauze then placed on the wound. The use of this item eliminates any danger of bacteria being transmitted to the wound.
