You take the top and flip it depending on whether you are using clear stamps or rubber backed stamps. I've been stamping with it for a little over a week now and it works wonderfully with the rubber stamps but I seem to have a harder time with the clear stamps. The issues seem to be when a stamp is along the far right side or smack in the middle.
I do love that the back has a rubber backing that not only allows you to keep it in place easier but also helps to give that extra cushion when you are stamping because the rubber is just a wee bit thicker than the plastic. I've put a mouse pad under to stamp and it makes no difference, so that is a real bonus.
It comes with 2 magnets but if you've got a ink/stamp combo that is sticky, it will still move about. As far as I am concerned if you are able to butt the paper up to the top and left corner then you are fine, that is how it you do it with another brand and I'm quite used to it now. I suppose you can use washi tape if needed. I will say that when I used the clear stamps and removed the magnets it seemed to work a bit better but not much.
I took some pics to let you see, I will say the rubber backed background stamp with snowflakes was just perfect first time around and it was a brand new stamp so that was awesome. I think I will use this product but maybe not as much as I was hoping. It is awfully bulky compared to some others on the market.
