and they've done a much better job with this game than THPSHD
I've been playing the Tony Hawk games since day one on N64 when I was tiny. It is true that this game is meant to be played at a slower pace, and the controls do take some getting used to, but the game really is a step in the right direction by Robomodo, and they've done a much better job with this game than THPSHD, that is for sure. I can play this game for hours and have a lot of fun just trying to get higher and higher combos. Here is a clip of my 44 million point combo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVyU7HeBKYw

This is a prime example of why long term deals can be detrimental. Made at the near end of the partnership between Tony Hawk and Activision, THPS 5 was slapped together by a team that struggled to make every other Tony Hawk game they developed worthwhile with an even tighter deadline. If you want more reasons for why this game completely blows, just look it up. It won't take long.

Ordered T.H.P.S.5 on October 14th, wasn't supposed to receive it until Oct. 30, it arrived on Oct. 17 (23 days early!).
Looked to be in the original packaging, no scratches, popped it in the old Xbox One and after it loaded (oh, how I miss the days of purchasing a game, popping it in the game console and not having to wait 1/2 hour for the content to upload before I can enjoy my purchase) , plays perfectly. I highly suggest this seller!

I have played many of the Tony Hawk games. This one is more closed in and the customization isn't as big either. But this game is really fun. The skating is simple and makes you wanna keep playing. All the maps and create-a-park is great too. It may be different, but it's still brings me a lot of joy!

Really wanted to fall back in love with this series. Alas, that will not happen with this title.

It pains me to say this, but I'm at the point now where I want to send this back.
Played for ~2hrs and made the mistake of shutting off my Xbox One. Now all the game does is crash on the Activision intro video every single time (e.g. the game tried to load... the Activision logo start to spin... crash... back to the Xbox home screen).
If that were the only issue then I might want to wait for a software update... but it isn't. There are so many THPS-essential game mechanics and features missing from this that it totally feels like a demo and not a full $60 title.

Why I won't be playing this again:
1) No spinning while in a manual or grinding
2) No changing the manual, grind, or lip trick once you're in one
3) You cannot create a player (yeah, you can kind of take the given players and edit their appearance, but no you cannot create a character from scratch)
4) The "slam" feature that's supposed to help you just ends up messing with your ability to grid out of a trick or wall ride
5) Can't seem to find a way to reassign any of the players' tricks to different button sequences (e.g. don't like down-left-x as a no comply... tough, you're stuck with it)... there's no controller customization at all
6) Something with the physics seems off... there are times that you end up smashing into a well when you just know you where perfect with your timing.
7) There's no Graffiti or Horse in online play... I'll pause to let that one sink in...
etc.
I could go on, you get the idea.

Kinda disappointed. The cel shaded graphics actually work pretty well once you can get used to them, that's if you can. The bonus skaters are also dope and the Ninja Turtles look sick. The game play is really stiff though. The ps2/Xbox Era Tony Hawk games had better framerate. The no actual goals is also dumb as hell. It's decent for just a fun free skate game though I suppose. I might have just been too hyped for this game though as I played all the Tony hawks from 2x thru Project 8 while waiting for this to release. If it's on sale for $20 buy it otherwise don't waste you're money.
