I'm trying to figure out where this game fits into the current gaming ecosystem and I believe it rides hard on nostalgia. Some remakes, reboots, and re-imaginings of other video game franchises work on their own but I'm not sure how much you'll enjoy this game if you have zero familiarity with Tony Hawk skating games. I bought this for my older brother (he's in his mid-30s) and he says it's just like the games from the 90s. If you think of that including the fact that this game has "current" versions of the same featured skaters from the original 90s video games (now in their 40s and 50s...in real life but also inside this game) it does seem a little odd for much younger audiences where this is their first Tony Hawk game. Obviously, the graphics are amazing and gameplay elements have been updated for current standards, you can see that in this game's trailers.

In saying that, millions of people around the world have played at least one Tony Hawk skating game. If we include that audience with skaters who can easily pick up a controller, the overall appeal makes a lot more sense. If you don't fit into either of those groups, maybe this still holds up as the best skating game you can buy in 2020? I think time and hindsight may be better critics here. Even though I haven't played it, my brother says nothing but good things, and I'm super tempted to buy myself a copy (I'm also old and fondly remember the original games).

great game and graphics, somethings just don't transfer from N64 to Xbox One X. the dual joysticks feel funny after playing these on N64 with the one joystick, some of the moves and ways of maneuvering felt a little awkward on the Xbox One...asides from it feeling different, overall an awesome game! if it wasn't for the small differences in feel from N64 to Xbox One, I would probably have given this a 5 star rating.
