Product Description
PRETTY IN PINK - Young Andie (Molly Ringwald) is one of the not-so-popular girls in high school. She usually hangs out with her friends Iona (Annie Potts) or Duckie (Jon Cryer). Duckie has always had a crush on her, but now she has met a new guy from school, Blane (Andrew McCarthy). He's one of the rich and popular guys but can the two worlds meet? FERRIS BUELLERS DAY OFF - Ferris (Matthew Broderick) is a street-wise kid who knows all the tricks. Today he decides to take the day off school. When Ferris takes the day off, so must his best friends, Cameron (Alan Ruck) and Sloane (Mia Sara). Cameron is reluctantly persuaded to borrow his father's Ferrari, and together they hatch a plan to get Sloane out of class. Suspicious dean of students Ed Rooney (Jeffrey Jones) knows all about Ferris, but can never catch him. Ferris' sister Jeanie (Jennifer Grey) is also frustrated that Ferris always gets away with his tricks and she doesn't. Furthermore, Ferris is an 'angel' in his parents eyes. It's Ferris' day off, he's out to enjoy himself, and he does! SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL - A young tomboy, Watts (Mary Stuart Masterson), finds her feelings for her best friend, Keith (Eric Stoltz), run deeper than just friendship when he gets a date with the most popular girl in school, Amanda (Lea Thompson). Unfortunately, the girl's old boyfriend, Hardy (Craig Sheffer) who is from the rich section of town, is unable to let go of her, and plans to get back at Keith.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2024These are movies from the eighties…my teen years and I still love them!! Pretty in Pink, Ferris Buellers Day Off and Some Kind of Wonderful are all very popular and memorable movies of that time. You can’t go wrong with these!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2010John Hughes was definitely the teen movie master in the 1980's. Nobody has ever come close to touching him in this genre since then, and I doubt that anyone ever will. Hughes really GOT teenagers - the way their minds worked, the struggles they went through, the way they talked, everything. This collection - Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Pretty in Pink, and Some Kind of Wonderful - is a great way to experience the sheer genius that was John Hughes. It's a great value, too. I doubt you can find a better price anywhere for these three films.
One of the best things about this collection is the bonus material on each DVD. There are interviews with the cast - which were filmed in 2006, I believe - in which they talk about their experiences during filming and their thoughts on the characters and the content of the film. There's also footage from the 80's of John Hughes being interviewed regarding the films, and some 80's cast interview footage as well. Sure, you'll probably only watch this material one time, but it's worth the investment. Besides, I don't think you'd save any money by purchasing stripped-down no-bonus-material versions anyway.
I highly recommend this collection. Each film is excellent. I could ramble on about the plot of each movie and what my thoughts are on them, but I imagine that pretty much everyone who's considering purchasing this collection has already seen the films. So, I'll simply end with this: Buy this collection. It's the best price you'll find anywhere, the bonus material is great, and the nostalgia factor is through the roof.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2022Typical 80s movies everyone should own!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2015Beyond pleased to find this Collector's Edition of three of John Hughes' most iconic movies. Nobody...nobody...did teen movies any better than he did! Good price and great service from Clockwork Cornucopia (and amazon). Thank you!
Too Cool for School - The John Hughes Collection (Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Bueller... Bueller... Edition / Pretty in Pink - Everything's Duckie Edition / Some Kind of Wonderful - Special Collector's Edition)
- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2014A good collection of John Hughes movies and I enjoyed them all but they left out Sixteen Candles and the Breakfast Club, now that would worthy of 5-stars. On the other hand, for what I paid for this set I have zero complaints.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2020Great for a road trip, 3 discs conveniently in one case, organized so no discs can scratch or otherwise damage another. Great video quality, 10/10 :)
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2012Fantastic set of DVD's so well worth the $20 I think I spent on it, couldn't believe I found such a greA+ deal on here! I love the movies, and they were brand new, for like I said under $20! you really can't beat that price, or the quality, let alone the speedy FREE delivery. I love Amazon! they have become my new shopping obsession!
Very Pleased!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2014No one contributed more to the image of the 80s suburban teen than John Hughes. The Too Cool for School collection contains some of his best work, and the price would be reasonable if only Ferris Bueller was in the collection. The humor, anxiety, and teen struggles still remain relevant in this work, as my children enjoy these films nearly as much as I.

DouglasReviewed in Germany on March 6, 20145.0 out of 5 stars John Hughes!
A great collection! Charlie Parker's brother as a "freaky geeky" weirdo (Pretty in Pink). Ferris Bueller's is a must see for everybody--great flashback tot the 80s too.

Mr. Gary R. SmithReviewed in the United Kingdom on February 13, 20115.0 out of 5 stars 80s classics, for 80s throwbacks like me
Fantastic films, If you like Pretty in Pink, then Somekind of Wonderful should be right up your alley. Ferris Bueller is a bonus for me. If you like 80s films, then these should be a must. Great value. Is it just me, but apart from the internet, and other technology, wasn't the 80s a fantastic decade?
