After his world was completely rocked when he was just 14, Luke was forced to become the man of the house and he started to build a wall around his heart to keep from being hurt so badly ever again. Years later, that armor has him keeping everyone at arms length with a quiet and reserved demeanor but Quinn Copeland has him thinking things he should never be contemplating if he wants to stay aloof, never mind that she is his co-worker.
When an injury to Quinn's partner has Luke reassigned to work the ambulance with her, Quinn knows she is in trouble. She has been admiring the sexy rookie from a distance every since he came to Seventeen, and their new proximity isn't going to work out well for her concentration or her panties even though he has showed absolutely no sign of interest in her aside from being a coworker. When their first shift together goes to hell in a handbasket at the hands of one of the city's most notorious gangs, they are thrown into some intense circumstances with the potential to alter their lives forever.
This unfamiliar new world of fear and danger has Quinn in full freak out mode, but Luke's steady calm demeanor has a way of calming her when nothing else can. He is freaking out on the inside but he is determined not to let her see it since she is already scared enough. They have to keep what happened a secret to ensure the safety of their friends and family, and the shared experience draws them closer until that slow burning attraction finally boils over into some smoking hot moments! Nothing stays a secret forever though, and the tensions will eventually come to a head in a big way.
I highly enjoyed Luke and Quinn's story from the slow burn aspect to the suspense and danger that stalked them throughout this book. I found myself furiously flipping the pages to find out what was coming next! In Too Deep can absolutely be read as a standalone, so if you love a hot and sexy firefighter/ paramedic with a healthy dose of suspense, you definitely want to add this one to your 1-click list now!
After getting a call for an emergency and arriving on scene, the EMT's are placed in an extremely dangerous position which becomes life or death for them. By maintaining eye contact with each other they are able to move on from the scene but not without danger closely following them. Their relationship heats up quickly under the fear and intimidation they experience, but it is clear they have chemistry and real feelings.
The book has a surprise ending, but still a HEA. I won't spoit it for anyone, but I did love the twist at the end. This book is easily a stand-alone, but you will want to read the entire series to understand all the nuances between the characters.
Truly a 5 star worthy read.
Kimberly Kincaid delivers a story that has plenty of romance, intrigue and suspense that will keep you turning the pages. She shows the true brotherhood of the fire department. Great chemistry and romance between Luke and Quinn, their relationship brought them both out their shells.
I highly recommend this book, along with the rest of the Station Seventeen stories. Can be read as a stand alone.
Luke Slater is a rookie firefighter who is also studying to be a paramedic.
Quinn Copeland is a paramedic who is mentoring Luke.
Each of them think the other one will is very hot but keep their feelings to themselves because for Quinn she doesn’t think she should be interested in any one she works with and Luke is afraid to let anyone close.
Luke and Quinn are thrown together when Quinn’s partner, Parker is injured on a call. While they were on their first call together, they were put in a life threatening situation. Luke wants to call the RPD but Quinn convinces him to stay quite.
There was so much suspense in this book that I thought I was going to need a paramedic. I was literally having anxiety waiting for the next plot twist.
Luke finally convinced Quinn to go to the police about the threats and the plots thickens.
While Quinn and Luke are on lockdown they give in to their passion but can they overcome everything and make it work?
Every Station 17 Book can be read as a stand-alone but for your enjoyment I would recommend that you read the whole series.
Ms Kincaid has outdone herself with this book. I can’t wait for the next one.
