Too faced was smart, create a kabuki brush that is extremely soft yet portable. Other brands such as Smashbox and Bare Esentuals could really learn a thing or two from this idea.
This nearly full sized Kabuki brush retracts down into itself so it's cap can close it up nicely. The synthetic hair of this brush is luxuriously soft unlike other kabuki brushes I have found on the market.
With a good size head and handle the brush extends out of it's handle so even while traveling you have a full size kabuki brush unlike other brand's idea of "travel" brush. With other brands you are 1) missing a decent handle, 2) the brush head is not close to full size and 3) they do not have a case to cover up the brush head.
The case which covers up the brush head is essential in my book. I don't care about getting residual powder all over my purse nor do I like the idea of the brush head getting mixed up with something I may have left in my purse.
The most important part of this very well designed and soft brush is it's ability to apply makeup. The brush head is not as compact and stiff as other kabuki brushes but don't let this lead you into believing it doesn't work as well. I find it works better as the hair of the brush extends out for better coverage while sweeping my powder foundation over my skin. The brush works great for buffing in foundation when layering the powder on for more coverage as well as applying a light amount of coverage using it as an all over powder brush.
One thing this brush doesn't do that my other kabuki brushes have done in the past is shed! When I use it to apply my powder foundation it doesn't leave hair all over my face! What the .... oh?Read more ›
I bought this in September of 2012.
I also bought a great deal of other brushes- some small enough or retractable for travel, and many, many others which were intended for home use.
This is the brush, out of no less than dozens of them, that I use every time I apply my powder. This is hands down the softest brush I own, and it lives inside my travel makeup bag, when it's not busy earning it's two-years-and-going-strong room and board.
TWO YEARS of near-daily use, and I have ZERO complaints.
No bristles falling out, no complaints, no points retracted, no negative anything to say about this brush.
You can try any brush you like, but this is the one you'll love- I can tell you this with all certainty, from personal experience.
I love the fact that it is "retractable" which isn't 100% true but still it does the job which is why I was looking for something for taking around.
I was definitely disappointed when I tried to use it and found that although it is definitely as soft as many stated, it was definitely not a full as I would have liked.
I will still hold onto it but only use it for applying touch up or a finishing powder only.
(regarding the fullness, I have a buffer brush from MAC that is fuller than this one and it will continue to be my main applicator)

These were a gift and the recipient is very happy with them. They are incredibly soft and I'd certainly use them if I used make-up brushes.Published 13 months ago by 3sara45
This was disappointing tbh. It's a good brush as far as the materials, size, and durability goes but the part that slides down when the lid comes off is very loose. Read morePublished 13 months ago by Rachel
Would have been 5 stars if mind hadn't come broken. Ruins the point of having a rectractable brush.Published 13 months ago by Feli Arellano
