S and G Tool Aid Ratcheting Terminal Crimper for Weatherpack Terminal is designed to provide a perfect crimp every time. It is made with a steel frame with contoured grips and can be used with the die sets available in the 18920, ratcheting terminal crimping kit.

The S&G Tool Aid 18930 is NOT designed to crimp "most Weatherpack Terminals" as claimed. It will not correctly crimp the seal on the end of the terminal. The Weatherpack terminals are designed with a rubber seal to be placed at the end of the terminal to make them weatherproof (go figure). This tool crimps the second crimp by folding the tangs in like it does with the wire (first) crimp. The ears of the sealed Weatherpack terminals will not fit correctly nor crimp correctly around the rubber seal when inserted in this tool. It is a rather well built ratcheting crimp tool for standard open barrel terminals and should work well in a non-production application.

This tool is not designed for Weather-pack terminals like stated. It crimps the wire perfect but does not crimp the seal correctly. The crimp that it does is just a standard terminal crimp.

Try as I might to like ratcheting crimpers, I just have never had good luck with them. I've tried twenty dollar crimpers and one-hundred and twenty dollar crimpers. And I still like simpler Vaco or similar crimpers that are "plier style" rather than ratcheting. This tool seems well built. Same build quality as the expensive tools. Just didn't work for me, same as the expensive tools. I'd say if YOU have used ratcheting crimpers before, and liked them/got them to work, these would be as good as any. But if you're used to non-ratchets, and you're thinking about it, see if you can try them somewhere before investing.

The Ad copy was a little confusing. These are designed, and marked, for insulated crimp terminals (YEL-BLU-RED), not uninsulated or WX/METpack or any other type (unless you replace the dies with those designed for those other style terminals).

This is my first experience with the "S&G Tool Aid Brand" tools but this crimping tool is an excellent performer and very well made! It creates evenly tightened and complete crimps on each use with little effort! If I were to have to say anything negative, I would have to comment on the lack of written instructions accompanying this tool to aid those unfamiliar with weather-pack terminals and ratcheting crimping tool adjustments. However, within 20 minutes of experimenting with the tool adjustments, I was able to completely figure out how it functions and make necessary adjustments to the settings to begin use in actual connection construction. I would highly recommend this tool to anyone seeking to use weather-pack waterproof connection terminals and/or sensor terminal construction as an affordable and practical tool to add to your inventory. Thus far, I have no regrets and have used this to make several connections of my own. Hopefully in the future, S&G Tools will make the additional crimping dies for other types of connectors available without having to buy an entire kit such as the S&G #18980.

I didn't want to drop a bunch of dough on a ratcheting crimper, so this is what I bought. I've had some trouble getting the crimps correct though and believe a better (ie., more expensive) ratcheting crimper would do more to insure the crimp was strong. Three stars, because it does work.

UPDATE 9/2016:
So, it took some usage for the tool to loosen up and now I'm getting rightful crimps with this baby. Adding a star.

This product is not designed for Weather Pack connectors. They never produced a good, well formed crimp for me. Sometimes just crushed the connector without securing the wire and when they did crimp it was malformed and it distorted the connector. Compare the shape of the jaws to known, more expensive Weather Pack tools, both manual and ratcheting styles, they are not the same, you will see the difference. I will continue to use my manual crimper. Returned these for a refund.

After reading some of these negative reviews....I have to say that if the crimp isn't coming out right, it's user error. These things work great for sealed terminals. Wish I could post a picture. First time using a ratcheting crimp tool and I am using it for vw sealed terminals and it is working great. My crimps are close to factory appearance.
