I wasn't sure about off-brand calipers but didn't want to fork-over for Starrett. Since having these and using them heavily for a few weeks, I'm very satisfied, and would recommend them to others. I'll look for this company when I buy again.

I ordered this dial caliper to use in my reloading hobby. I wanted a second tool so I would not wear out my good Starrett caliper. This piece works O.K., but the gear mechanism is a little rough. It will do the job, but I had hoped for a bit better quality from KD tools.

I found this caliper at a garage sale several years ago and purchased it for $5 and have been using it since regularly. I've compared it to several other more expensive calipers and found it to read reliably. I looked it up here on Amazon to see what it was selling for new. I'm very happy with the product and don't plan to replace it.

This thing broke after a month but it still measures, just have to make sure I subtract/add an increment if it's not at zero.

I own several KD Tools, all good quality and all Made In USA, so I ordered this caliper fully expecting to receive a Made in USA tool. Imagine my disappointment to receive the tool today and find that it is Made in China! I've never known of KD Tools to be Chinese, so I looked closely and on the box, I find in very small print it says, "Supplied for KD Distribution Centers by Danahar Tool Group". Now if I had wanted a Stainless Steel 6" Caliper Made in China, I could have bought one from Harbor Freight for $18.29 with a lifetime warranty rather than paying 2-1/2 times more for a Chinese tool. I am willing to pay 2-1/2 times more for a "Made in USA" tool, which is why I ordered this one at this price. By principle I do not buy Chinese tools, which is why I specifically sought out the KD brand. The one time I had to have a tool and the only thing available was a Chinese tool, it broke the first time I tried to use it, costing me time, money and frustration.

I just received it today and have not yet decided whether or not I will return this item, as there was absolutely nothing in the description or pictures to indicate that it was Made in China.

Having said that, the tool appears to be of reasonable quality as you would expect a precision measuring instrument to be. The thumb wheel seems a bit loose and requires pressing up while turning it to move the slide, otherwise the wheel spins but the slide does not move. The case is cheaply made, does not look like it will hold up in a tool box environment.

If I decide to keep it, I will update this review after some actual use.
