As some others have mentioned, I havent found that the tips just fall off when the tool is turned over, however...

When using the tool to engage a clip, if too much pressure is applied to push the clip on the tool tip does lever away from the pressure due to a large amount of slop in the way the tip is clipped to the tool.

Also, when stretching a clip prior to placing it on the part, if you stretch it too far the tip will slip sideways and can bend the clip.
The problem in both situations is that there is just too much slop between the toolheads and handle.

I also don't like the lack of a storage box for the tips, I hate having parts for tools strewn all over my toolbox.
Because often this leads to one of the parts getting lost. A tool with multiple parts should come with a storage box
for all the parts so they can live together.

This is a cheap tool and its performance is sub par. I regret buying it.

Sometimes tools work best when they do less. I appreciate the versatility of the four exchangeable heads this tool includes, but the design is bad. Swapping the heads is very quick and easy, (despite the many complains in the reviews here) but there is far too much free play once installed. As a result of the sloppy connection and using the tool is much harder than it could be.

Get ready for slipped pins and flying snap rings!

I have primarily used this tool for snap rings used on bike parts. These tend to be quite small (<1 inch across) and have tiny holes. The pins on this tool are too big for such tiny snap rings and I had to grind them down to fit (see photo). I would have scored this tool lower but I think it probably works much better with large snap rings. Steer clear if you are need small stuff or very delicate work. I also included a photo showing a 90 degree bend head that comes included.

I can't understand the previous commenter's issue with the pliers. The pivot pin has a small metal slide at the opposite end of a spring at the mushroomed head. You put the particular plier tongs part you want in the appropriate position and push the pin through the spring, the plier tongs and the main hinge of the tool. While pushing the mushroomed end and nearly compressing the spring completely, you pull the metal slide out, pivot it parallel to the plane of the tool and slide the plate so that it straddles the hole. Release the pressure and the tool stays intact. I could see where it's perhaps a little too complicated for what it does but once you figure it out (the directions are rather horrendous) the tool works well. One beef is that they could have provided a pouch or a cheap plastic box to keep the main tool and the plier bits together.

It's a good tool. It gets dings for the directions and lack of storage when not in use.

I am not sure what is the deal with some of the reviews here. I purchased this set and have been extremely pleased with them. It took all of about 3 seconds to figure out how to change the tool heads or change them from inside or outside pliers. You simply push the silver pin in to release spring tension and slide the little catch on the opposite side straight so it will go through the hole then reverse the process to put it back together. If you are working with outside snap rings you use the two outermost pins on the pliers if you are using it for inside snap rings you use the two inner most pins on the pliers which are on the opposite side. Clearly if you are using these and it falls apart when you flip the tool over you did not re secure the catch in the center pin. If you are applying alot of sideways pressure it is possible to pop the tool head off of the pins on the pliers but typically you do not need to use sideways pressure to remove or install snap rings.

For really big snap rings get bigger pliers because these are meant for your typical smaller size rings. Would be nice if it came with some kind of storage pouch or container but the plastic packaging works well enough. Overall These are great pliers and very versatile in their design. For the price it is a no brainer unless you plan to use this tool on a daily basis then yes just invest in a good set of dedicated pliers..

I bought this tool based on the majority of the positive reviews and the price, only to be terribly mistaken. I was working on my car which involved removing a snap ring in order to remove something, and this tool couldn't stop slipping out of place. I did everything and anything to get a good grip on the snap ring, but these pliers don't cut it. This tool is such garbage, that one of the tips actually broke off while trying to remove the snap ring. Another set of tips got bent way out of proportion. Quick trip to the auto parts store, bought an AMERICAN MADE set of Chanellock snap ring pliers, and it removed the snap ring with ease. You get what you pay for - and this cheap, Chinese made joke of a product is the epitome of poor quality. Lesson learned!

Snap ring pliers with interchangeable tips have been around for a long time, so this versatile set (four tips in total: straight and bent tips in large and small diameters, that can be placed in position for either internal or external snap rings) looked very attractive. This tool was a complete disappointment, however. When installed, the tips wobble, then fall off when sideways pressure is applied. There is a removable pivot with a cross-bar that is supposed to lock the tips into place when using the external position. Instead when you put the tips on, "lock" them into position and turn the tool over, everything (tips and lock) falls off the pliers. I did a double take! As you know if you've used snap rings, you must often work in a difficult orientation and apply some downward pressure to keep the tips engaged in the small holes in the ring. A rigid tool that you can trust is absolutely necessary. This tool is unusable and should not be on the market. For shame, Irwin!
