1.0 out of 5 stars Never thought I'd see the day.
By Alan P. on November 4, 2015
I've used a lot of drill bits. I've broken a lot of drill bits. This is the first time I've ever had a drill bit untwist on me. See attached photo.

2.0 out of 5 stars The drill bit shanks needs improvement or quality check prior to sending them out to the real world.
By Simon on May 8, 2020
I got this set on Mar 28, 2020, and I've used a few of them (the larger bits) for drilling wood -- not yet attempted steel or anything harder.

But today (May 8, 2020), I wanted to be the big hero to my little nephew by fixing his "plastic" toy rifle (see picture included). I used the smallest bit 1/16" to attempt to make a pilot hole, so I can then use the slightly larger 1/8 bit for the actual hole for a rivet that I want to put on his toy rifle.

I used the lowest speed on my regular drill (not impact) to drill the tiny hole on a somewhat fragile thin plastic, and the bit did not snap (broke) but fell out of it's 1/4" shank -- the shank basically lost its grip (see picture provided) on the bit!

I used the lowest speed (plus as I press the button on my drill, I can regulate the RPM), but it did not allow me to complete my task -- I had to use a larger bit to make the pilot hole on a very thin fragile type of plastic. So now it gets pulled out of it's shank quite easily with my fingers, making it inoperable -- at least the 1/16" drill bit (for now) in my set.

NOTE: my cordless drill only accepts Quick Change 1/4” Hex Shanks since it only has dual 1/4" chucks -- it doesn't have an adjustable Drill Chuck (i.e. WORX Switchdriver). So even if the bit came out off the shank, I can't use it, since my drill doesn't have a drill adjustable chuck. The whole point of these bits is that they are compatible with quick change 1/4" heck shank drills.

If I could make one suggestion, is that they should make a small tiny hole on the side of the shank where you can tighten the bit with a small Hex Allen wrench. I think if they did that, these bits would not get pulled out so easily or if they ever become loose (like mine), we can always insert them back in and re-tighten the grip with a screw.

I hope the company that makes these bits, re-think their strategy a bit. The set seems solid, just that the grip on the shanks are somewhat questionable.

So I give them 2 out of 5 stars, because I've been able to use the rest, but still disappointment that one easily failed on my first attempt of using it.

The company should also put more strain on their quality check. See if they can pull out the bits from the shank with a pair of pliers at the very least. This way they can discard the defective ones, or re-think their overall concept.

P.S. If you can send me just the 1/16" replacement, that would also be great... Or a tip on how to fasten it up. I'm thinking maybe a gas welding torch gun and some solder with flux?

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent for the price, but one broke first day...
By Kieran Ryan on September 23, 2015
For the price of these, I'd say they are alright. One of them broke the first day of use, others are dulling rather quickly. Probably not prepared for impact drivers. Crummy packaging and the normal noxious plastic-rubber smell coming from the rubber index is expected and apparent. I don't think I would buy these again. Good for a pinch, but these will not last you or outlast quality hex shank bits.

5.0 out of 5 stars but they have turned out to be good bits for the price
By Nicholas Driscoll on May 14, 2016
I was a bit skeptical when buying these, but they have turned out to be good bits for the price. I just needed something to slip quickly in and out of my drill for pilot hole drilling. Makes exchanging with a driver bit really fast. Haven’t had any problems with the bits coming out of the shank so far. Worth having in the tool box.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broken on first use on thin plywood

Bit separated from shank on first use on hardwood
Update:
Now three bits broken on first use on thin plywood. I bought this set thinking it could be better than unbranded one and hex shank will help getting firm grip, but I was completely wrong actual drill bit came out of shank very easily so I have to use superglue to fix this first problem then drilling thin plywood couple of smaller bit broken on first use, see picture if you look carefully you can see superglue on shank as well only plus side is it drills better then German super store's very cheap drills
