Product Description

The brush has a Polypropylene handle, all stainless steel head and brass hardware that will provide many years of use. The stainless steel scrubbers can be replaced in seconds. This brush works on all grill surface types. Not recommended on Teflon coated surfaces. Will not damage porcelain grill grates. From Cooks Illustrated. Product Name: The Tool Wizard Grill Brush. Recommendation Status: Highly Recommended Tester Comments: This highly recommended model has a lightweight polypropylene grip, and a single large, tough pad (with a spare included) that did an excellent job cleaning off a baked-on mixture of honey, molasses, barbecue sauce, and mustard. Testers with smaller hands felt it provided a more comfortable grip.

Works great but the pad is already falling apart.
2 out of 5 stars
Works great but the pad is already falling apart.
I wish I could give a 5 star review, but I have only used it twice and the scrub pad is coming apart. It only came with one scrub pad not two like the photo. The scrub pad is not very durable and It will have to be replaced pretty frequently.

I use my grill fairly often and go through wire brushes at a pretty fast pace. The bristles on a typical wire brush always seem to wear down and/or get filled with grease/soot. And, it's probably my technique, but the grill doesn't end up looking spotless- just fairly clean.

The grill wizard did the job quickly and very well.

The grill wizard is very easy to set up. You are given a metal scouring pad that you insert into two metal rods on one end of the rubber handle. The rods are then squeezed into their slots and you are left with about a 2-3 foot handle with the scouring pad on one end.

Pretty simple, no? In this case, simple works wonders. The scouring pad cut through the grime and grease on my large grease fairly easily. I used a cleaner spray, but I don't know if this was necessary.

With one pad, I was able to clean three grates front and back on my grill and two grates from my smoker in approximately ten to fifteen minutes. It took a little bit of elbow grease, but the end product was worth it- the grates look completely free of grime.

Towards the end, the pad became filled with grime and I turned it over to the other side and it continued working well. I probably could have rinsed it out as well.

I would definitely recommend this grill wizard to anyone- but you might be able to save money on the refills by buying the scouring pads separately- they seem to be a standard size.

I’ve used this to clean my charcoal grill, gas’s grill and pellet smoker grates. After decades of grilling and smoking, NOTHING I’ve ever used comes close to this brush’s ease of use and superb results. Highly recommended and zero worry about stray bristles!

    Get THIS grill cleaner!
After MUCH review reading here I chose this type of grill cleaner because of the possibility of getting a piece of straight wire from "those other types of grill brushes" broken-off in some grilled food and later caught in someone's intestines, possibly perforating the intestine and creating a serious problem, as has been reported in the media. I grill a lot, even in winter, and figured the odds were higher with us having that happen. Note: one time with another brand of this type of "brillow pad" grill cleaner I DID find a 2" strand of curly stainless steel on a grilled piece of chicken. BUT - it was easy to spot and remove, unlike a piece of straight wire from a "regular" grill brush. And if that curly wire HAD been placed in the mouth, most people would bite down on it, notice it and pull it out.
All this tool needs is a metal scraper on the end to be great for cleaning stainless steel grates in a grill. Why it doesn't have such a common-sense addition is beyond me. I have to keep an older wire bristle brush with scraper around for preliminary cleaning before using this grill cleaning tool. Plus, the older wire bristles DO get deeper into the grate for initial cleaning better than this tool. So my cleaning regimen is this: 1. Preheat grill to very hot (500-600 degrees), burning off any left-over grease, etc. 2. Then scrape the top of the grates with an old steel edge bristle brush cleaner, and use its bristle brush to get between grates to knock down any build-up hanging there. 3. Now use the Tool Wizard Toolwiz grill cleaner to "put a shine" back on the stainless steel grate bars. Done.
I have not yet replaced the "brillow pad" cleaner head on this, but it doesn't look hard. So far the original head on mine is lasting nicely. I did buy a spare. You should too.

Good price. Makes cleaning the grill easy. Nice long handle. Performance has been very good. When the metal pads starts to appear worn just replace the head instead of the whole brush is nice.

I use T-Brush and this grill pad cleaner to get a really sparkling grill before and after grilling. I have found that this scouring pad really makes the flat surface of a grill grate sparkle like nothing else. I found the first time I used it that the stainless steel shine came out on grill grates which were black from repeatedly using a flat brass bristle brush. The combination of the two grill cleaners really works on getting both the flat surface of the grill and in between the grates really clean.

In retrospect, I guess, what you are really buying is just a handle to hold a scrubbing pad. Not exactly rocket science. But the handle is long and sturdy, and it allows you to clean your grill while it is still hot, which is the best time to remove stubborn grit.

If you want to use this device by itself, for the grates on a gas grill, it wont do the job. It only hits the flat surface well. Buy this to supplement the brass bristle grill brush you already have so that you can get the grill sparkling. Then you'll be pleased with the results. It shouldn't be that hard to have a shiny grill, and this kind of brush makes it possible.

I ordered this after seeing some great reviews, but my experience is vastly different. I don;'t even get one single good cleaning out of a pad before it deforms and starts to fray, leaving metal strips all over my grill grates. This means that after cleaning with this thing, I have to brush it with a more traditional brush to get rid of the shards of this piece of garbage. I've tried 3 pads, all with the same results.

I use this on a gas grill with cast iron grates with a decoration in the middle, not round grates found on, for example, a Weber kettle grill. That may have something to do with how badly this thing performed.

If I could give it less than one star I would.

I have only used it once so far, but I am happy with it. The handle is sturdy and it is long enough to keep your hand from getting too hot. I like that you can reuse the handle and just replace the pad. The pad is attached by two hinged posts that you weave through the mesh. The pad that came already attached was only woven through one layer of mesh. That made it move around too much. I wove it through thicker layers of mesh and it worked just fine.
