all the basics everyone should know about building, maintaining and protecting their credit score. As
someone who pays her credit card according to the statement date and not the due date, I was happy
to see that this advice which I received from a family member years ago was validated by Mr. Sater
in one of the many topics he covers in his book.
Areas such as knowing your rights about your credit, what a FICO score is (and how to obtain one) and how credit inquiries are different (extending credit vs checking credit) are all subject matters that are relevant to anyone with a job who uses a credit card.
In a time where it can be increasingly difficult to be approved for a loan or to repair damaged credit, Mr. Sater offers sound advice for those who are maintaining their credit scores appropriately as well as offering suggestions on how to rebuild neglected credit. I particularly like that he leaves his contact information at the end of the book. This suggests to me that he truly wants to help people by educating them about their options to have a good FICO store.
This is a wonderful resource for a young adult who s just getting his first credit card just as much as someone who is rebuilding credit after a divorce. Easy
to follow, and strongly recommended!
He covers it all, like knowing your rights about your credit, what a FICO score is, and how to get it as well as how credit inquiries are different extending credit and just checking credit, and they're all things you need to know if you have a credit card or ever plan to have one. Not only does he explain how to protect your credit, he also explains how to rebuild your credit that is not so good.
This is a must have for a young adult just starting out, or someone who is rebuilding credit after a divorce.
However, when I found a copy of Dan's book I thought it would be another lame read where I'd already know all the material. But as curiosity would get the better of me... I decided to read it.
I'm so glad I did. While most of the book was a rehash of stuff I already knew, there were legitimate nuggets that I didn't know. Stuff that could've ended up costing me a 20-50 points AND I don't want that to happen.
So, if you're looking to increase your score or just to maintain it, this book is a short, quick and information packed read that you'll have to pick up.
