That said, I am a little confused with some of the reviews. I see lots of complaints that the pump is "small" and "takes a while to fill tires/tubes with air." Huh? You literally cannot expect a TINY hand pump to compete with a floor pump or even a midsized hand pump. If you want more air per pump, then buy the APPROPRIATE sized pump. No matter what brand of mini pump you buy, you are not going to get large amounts of air per pump. Physics just doesn't work that way. So, don't expect another brand of mini pump to magically require half of the number of pumps that this one requires per tire. There is a reason this pump is labeled "mini"!
If you want an ultra lightweight, portable pump, then get this one. It's durable and has worked for me for years with no issues (presta valve tested only). If you want to require less pumps to fill your tires, then get a BIGGER hand pump, not one that is labeled "mini." But don't expect the bigger pump to take up less space on your bike or elsewhere in your kit. You have to decide between what is most important to you: size of the pump or the number of pumps required to fill a tire/tube.
I personally went with a mini pump because I ride size Small bikes and I cannot fit much on the frame (see my pic). Maybe if I were very tall, like someone who rides an XL bike, I would go for a larger pump.

It's really really small so be prepared to do lots of pumping.
Here are a few key facts about this pump:
1. Is it light? It weighs only about 5 oz, so it does not add much weigh at all. It comes with a bracket that mounts to the bike frame under the bottle cage, and the pump can be secured onto the bracket without it coming loose during even a bumpy ride (see picture).
2;. Is it sturdy? The construction of the pump seems to be solid. The shaft is the piece that is under the greatest pressure when you push. On this pump, the shaft is quite sturdy -- it did not flex or bend at all when pressure was applied. The diameter is just a little over 5/16 inch, but it seems to be made out of solid metal.
3. Does this fit both Presta and Schader valves? The pump comes in a configuration ready for a presta valve (which you'll find on most road bikes). Similar to most hand pumps, you push the pump onto the opened valve and lift the lever on the other end to lock. On the reviews, there were some confusion about whether this accepts a schrader valve too. The answer is yes, it can accept both. The instructions for how to convert from the presta configuration that the pump comes in to a schrader configuration is on the packaging of the pump (though in only pictorial form). Another reviewer has also posted a video on how to do this. Some reviewers commented on the lack of written instructions. It turns out that for products that are marketed in Europe this happens a lot -- they rely on pictures for instructions instead of words. (For most of my other bike equipment, they come with no written instructions either, so Topeak is not an exception.)
4. How many pumps does it need to inflate a tire? The answer to this depends heavily on what tires you have. Since I have only used this on a 700x25c road tire, I cannot speak to any other tire size. But about 80 pumps got me from 0 to approximately 60 psi. That may sound like a lot of pumping -- but it wasn't. The shaft is pretty short and the strokes pushed air into the tube fairly efficiently, so going up to 60 psi took very little effort. 60 psi is good enough to ride home after a puncture, so for my purpose, this pump more than serves the purpose, and I am quite happy with it. However, this would not be the pump of choice to get the tire up to the recommended 90+ psi normal pressure -- for that, you'll need a floor pump.
Finally, I paid for this purchase with my own money and was not compensated in any way for this review. Whenever I find a good product I give it an honest review as a service to the Amazon community. Thorough reviews help me make informed buying decisions, and I hope this one helps yours too.

Probably not as extreme as some of the other "pro-jocks" that purchase this pump... but it's important for the boy scout in me to have something on the road (especially since I recently went to an event and had to borrow someone else's).
We do road trips every weekend to a random park nearby. This means that all the bikes need to be functioning and a silly thing like a flat can rune the day for everyone.
Enter the Pocket Rocket, no not that kind... lol. While it's not small enough to fit in my pocket (god this sounds bad), it is one of the smallest pumps I've seen (ok... stop).
Maybe I'm not man or even woman enough to pump this, but when I tried to pump up a tire to 40lbs of pressure with this thing (from nothing) it took me a long time. Given it was a 100 degree weather... and I was sweating profusely but I decided to stop at about 34lbs of pressure and fill the rest with my air compressor.
Totally not as easy as some of these reviews may sound... if I had to do it all over again I would've opted for one of Topeak's bigger pumps (the bigger chamber should make it quicker to pump up the tire). However this will be good for emergency needs.
Some things to think about...
1) Mounting points (those little screws - usually allen bolts on your bike frame)... if you have them on your bike that's nice because you can mount this pump. My wife's bike has them... mine doesn't. So I'm lucky that I can take this and mount it to her bike, otherwise I would have to take this in a backpack or something.
2) Weight and portability... if you're extreme this is a better pump for you since you'll want to watch the weight of your bike.
3) It's very easy to change out from a Presta/Schrader/Dunlop valves after you unscrew the piece that meets the valve and flip it around to the position you need for your bike.
a) Instructions are very weak, but you can figure it out if you have some mechanical ability - another review tipped me off on this.
b) I've used this on only Schrader valves.
4) Compared to other options, this is one of the smaller best built pumps on the market.
I only knocked it down a star because it's not as easy to use as others make it. Perhaps they are speaking for their manlyness or I'm speaking on behalf of my lack of manlyness... it needs to be noted. I can't see how it would be possible to pump this thing up to 160lbs when I can barely get it to 40lbs on a kids bike (and that's the lower end rating for the tire).
I'm only extreme at this point of my life by how much rum I drink. Little different from all those bikers I admire on the mountain bike trails that make their bikes literally fly (way cool). Maybe later, but for now... it's about my babies!
