Coach Clark's life priorities were to God, his family, and the teams he coached and the students he taught.
He was a devout Catholic who truly lived his faith in God. His wife Claire and their children and grandchildren were the center of his life. His obligation was to do the best for his teams and students. This included having his team members accept their obligations to their team and teammates. This not only made them better as a team, but better individuals. It was important to Torchy to not only honor the players at awards banquets, but also to recognize the managers for their contributions to the team.
Coach Clark had inspirational signs in his office in the Xavier locker room. One read "Ethics is what you do when no one is looking".He was always about doing the right thing which was his inspiration that touched so many lives.
Bo Clark's book is a fitting tribute to his father, a most deserving man.
For a first-time author with no writing experience, Bo Clark's first book is remarkable in so many ways. What an achievement and testimony to the Clark family name.
Recommended for all humans!
This is a book about how life should be lived through the good times and the trying times. Torchy was a basketball savant with x’s and o’s. Basketball was a conduit for the faith, family, and goodness that flowed out of this humble servant.
There are thrilling basketball stories, tragic family illnesses, and kindnesses told through the eyes of Torchy himself, his son Bo the author, and a multitude of those, who like me, benefited from his enthusiasm, encouragement. He had more belief in us than we had in ourselves.
This is an inspirational story that should be read by coaches, sports fans, and anyone who needs a feel good story to find that spark to become what you dream of being.
This book has everything... stories from legendary games, life lessons, Torchy's 50 tips could be a book on their own! After reading this cover-to-cover in one sitting I can already tell I will be referring back to the stories and lessons passed down through the page turning storytelling from Bo Clark.
Great read for both coaches and players. I hope Bo writes a sequel based on his own success as a Coach.
It's inspirational, thought provoking and meaningful to athletes, coaches and students of life.
