The Torin BIG RED T43004 lightweight jack stands are a must have necessity in any garage. Ideal for supporting vehicles after lifting with a jack, handling a wide range of vehicles including small cars, jeeps, ATV's, UTV's, and more. These jack stands are constructed of high-grade aluminum and feature an adjustable height range from 10-3/4" to 15-5/8" with a 3 ton (6,000 lb) load capacity. Equipped with removable locking support pins which gives you security and stability and is equipped with 6 locking positions. The saddle has a large surface area that provides better contact with the load being supported. A wide foot base provides additional steadiness, which is also removable, allowing for compact storage when not in use. These are the BEST!! I love high quality, precision tools. How can you get excited about a freaking jack stand?!? Why would you even want too? These things are awesome! Very solid, BEEFY! Extremely well designed and built!! The locking pin design of the height adjustment is unique and so damn functional, I don”t know why it isn’t the only way jack stands are made! They are easy to tote around the garage and they are beautiful to look at!! It is right at home with my Wera wrenches, Knipex pliers and cutters and Milwaukee power tools.

These are solid Jack Stands and the photo doesn't do them justice. They are lightweight, robust and larger than you can discern from the description photo.

I unknowingly checked quantity 2 at check out, so I was a bit surprised when shipment arrived with 4 stands in one box. I was going to return a pair but after an easy assembly and since I was happy with the quality I decided to keep them.

I knew I wanted a pin style design vs the ratchet and these worked as designed. I've read several unwarranted comments about these Jack Stand on various forums which mostly stated they did't "appear" as robust as the 4 leg ratchet style stands, however none of the commentors actually owned or touched the stand. I am not a structural engineer and even if I was it would be impossible without controlled testing to say if these are inferior to its 4 legged counterpart. I do know the pin is found in the virtually all extreme heavy duty jack stands which is what I wanted to mimic.

I added some pics in the customer images section of this product which should help give a better perspective on the true size of these Jack Stands.

I don't think any product is perfect, nonetheless I am giving 5 *'s. Some reviewers deduct stars for the most insignificant things which I won't do here - although just one more link in the chain for the retaining pin would do wonders for inserting pin in highest position.

Nice jack stands

These are quite nice jack stands. They certainly seem sturdier than the budget pair that I already had. These worked out quite well for my little convertible. However, they were too short for my SUV. I ended up having to put some lumber underneath the jack stands to get the height that I needed.

I took off a star as the chains holding the locking pins are too short, making it difficult to get the pin in and out. I ended up going to a hardware store and getting some new chain to use for them. The other thing that I wish was that the top pad was drilled for accessories to be used, like the blocks needed to fit into the BMW jack pads. I drilled my own holes, but that was a bit of a pain to do.

Big Red Quality Jack Stands

I did plenty of research looking for a solid jack stand that I would not have doubts about and I met these Torin jacks and I looked no further.

I was so surprised how large these jacks were. The product picture does not do them justice. The assembly is simple with a single solid screw to attach the base to the vertical column. There is no doubt that the pins used for these jacks are solid. They are thick and won't go anywhere once the car is on top of them. I feel much safer visibly seeing that the lock is engaged. I don't see myself going back to the ratchet design, where there is no visible assurance.

I had no issues of the length of the chain that attaches the base to the pin allowing the pin to reach the holes.

The aluminum is clean and brushed beautifully. You can tell it's really well made - feels like a quality product. It's worth the price to me - especially if it's for your safety. I'll be buying two more soon, to get the car completely off the ground.

Overall I do like these stands, they are compact and light, and work well as intended. I only wish the manufacturer just went one step further to make the product as best it could be. The edges of the jack are sharp and that makes for a cheaper feel. The red coating is thin and actually came scratched in some parts right out of the box. These will look worn just after a few uses. The lanyard for the pin is about an inch too short, and makes inserting and removal of the pin more difficult than it needs to be. The instructions also don’t explain that you need to align the holes with the lanyard attachment, otherwise the pin will not engage (not enough length in the chain). It’s attention to this kinds of details that differentiate a great manufacturer with an average one. This is a decent product and I’d still recommend it, but it’s not a great product.

Good design, but both stands have defects

This is a good design, but the quality of the manufacturing is bad. Both my stands have problems.

Both the chains for the pins are too short, so if they're twisted at all you can't insert the pins. How difficult is it to cut the chains to the correct length?

In addition, the pins have spring-loaded ball detents that are supposed to keep the pins from falling out when you're moving the stands. But both of mine are defective. The ball isn't pressed in properly, which means it doesn’t stick out far enough. That means the pins go in and out with no resistance and can fall out when you're moving the stands around to set them in place.

Overall these don't seem worth the price.

Solidly built and handsome finish

These jack stands look and feel great. They’re substantial in their solidity and the anodized finish gives them a really nice look. So far I’ve used them once and they worked out well. I’m knocking one star because of 2 things: One of the bolts that attach the leg to the base had poorly machined threads and I could not get it into the base. I had to go to Home Depot to buy a replacement. The other issue, as others have noted, is that the chain holding the pin to the base is too short, so you have to remove it from the split ring to actually use it.

I bought these to replace some traditional jack stands from Harbour Freight which had been recalled (the locking mechanism could fail…no bueno).

Rather than replace with another set of 'pyramid' jack stands I went with these.

1. I coincidentally have owned a Torin Big Red speed jack for over 10 years and have been impressed with the quality
2. The lighter weight and smaller size (these can be easily disassembled)
3. No ratcheting mechanism that can fail - the stout clevis pin is idiot proof and indestructible
4. Large, flat base - no divots in soft asphalt

They are all aluminium except for the pin and chain. The tube is held to the base with a screw - easy to disassemble, but the screw is also easy to lose (a captive fastener would be nicer here). I was pleasantly surprised to discover the inner tube is held in position with some resistance when raising or lowering it - it's easy to raise/lower but holds steady while you insert the pin. You still need to align the holes when inserting the pin but this is not difficult. The pin itself has a positive ball detent on one side so it can't slip out of place once inserted. The pin is also tethered to a short chain affixed to the bases -it's perhaps a little too short, but there is enough slack to insert/remove without difficulty as long as the holes are aligned with the chain's attachment point.

Height is adjustable from ~11-18" which works well enough for my purposes. My only complaint is the top of the stand is relatively shallow vs most jack stands which have more of a U or V shape to firmly grasp an axle. The price is also a bit higher than steel jacks, but these are rated to 3 tons and the aluminum and compact design/flat base is nice enough to justify the premium in my opinion.

These are really nice! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the stickers on the base seem to have been put on with little care for accuracy and I'm pretty sure the instruction sheet (which, let's face is, is unnecessary) was for a completely different design. Ratcheting what?? But those things won't have any impact on how they work. Some reviews said something about the chains not being long enough but the ones I got are perfect. If you weren't bright enough to line up the holes with the side of the base that the chain is on when you put the screw in the bottom then I suppose you'd have an issue with the chain.

I have a set of the traditional pyramid steel ratcheting jack stands and to be fair, lifting one of each, the weight doesn't seem tangibly different. Both sets have about exactly the same height adjustment. That said... the reason I bought these is because they've got a flat base so they won't dig into my asphalt driveway so I won't need to put a piece of wood under them and the tops aren't shaped like I'm going to put an actual axle on them because really.. who does that anymore?

The ones that say chains are too short have this issue because when they tightened screw on bottom they did not align the hole for pin with part of base that chain is attatched to in a straight line. I did that to one of my jack and then it did not reach to put pin through. I loosened screw made adjustment and now its good
