Thanks for allowing me read amazing read.
Honest review, of the Arc of Torn .
Piper is a young, unemployed accountant who recently moved back home to take care of her 2 step-brothers after their father killed her mother and himself. She doesn't start out as a likable character, hating her brothers and resenting her responsibilities. Her form of release is found in the world of BDSM. She's a submissive who looks for a Dom and physical pain to take away her emotional pain. Holden, is a rich investor who gets off on control. They first see each other across the club; the attraction is deep and instant, but Piper is with another Dom that first night. Their next meeting isn't quite as promising. Piper has taken the companion/caretaker job for Ann, Holden's dying mother. He is adamantly opposed to her being anywhere near his mother. The lengths he goes to to remove her from his mother's life are unforgivable.
This book is very well-written. The pacing is good, the immersion into the world of BDSM seems realistic. I had no problems with the sex; it was erotic. I had a problem with the Holden's cruelty. There are 3 times in the book that he acted in a way that a woman could never forgive or forget. Piper started out awful, but soon changed. She grew out of her selfishness and grew to love her brothers. She was wonderful to Ann. However, the way she responded to Holden kept me from ever fully liking her. It's one thing to let a man use you for sex if you are getting what you need out of it, but to let him destroy you emotionally and keep going back for more, was more than I could take. I felt physically ill at one point from Holden's actions. The fact that this book upset me as much as it did, is proof of how good Sky Corgan is. If you don't mind a beautiful, kind female having no self-respect or love for her own well-being, then you will enjoy every aspect of this book. If you have difficulty reading about a person allowing themselves to fall for an abusive, cruel ass, then this book will disturb you. Either way, it will provoke your emotions.
