These two together were really great! On top of the romance and passion between the two, the mystery and suspense had me at the edge of my seat, constantly second guessing and jumping from one suspect to another. This was a very well-written suspense novel! I was so heavily involved in the story and the characters, it was hard to believe when I finished the book that they weren't real. A great read!
I went into this book thinking Wade and Victoria may have already begun a relationship, but learned right away that they had not. The sexual tension between these two has been building for a quite a while now, and did not disappoint. I wasn't too sure about Wade at first since he seemed a little fickle where women were concerned, but discovered early on that he was completely and totally in love with Victoria. She on the other hand started out leery and afraid, but quickly gets her crap together and I was proud of the courage and strength she exhibited. I adored them as a couple, and loved them even more for the compassion and care they showed the victims.
For some reason I never had a problem putting this book down, although I absolutely enjoyed it whenever I was reading it. That's the reason I gave it four stars instead of five, because it was probably just me. The story was full of twists and turns, had a wonderful blend of both mystery, romance and suspense, and was never too predictable. In fact I thought I knew who the killer was right away, but at 85% in I had an epiphany and head smacking moment which proved me wrong. There was even a twist at 2/3 of the way in that I didn't see coming, though Ms. Eden has used that scenario before. In the end I enjoyed it can't wait to read Asher's story "Taken" next.
Also, I noticed a couple of name mix-ups, but otherwise it had very few typos especially compared to book three "Shattered" where the editing seemed almost non-existent. My favorite of the series remains book two "Twisted" mainly because the heroine Emma, who I simply loved =)
I enjoy this series very much. This one had everything a LOST story should have. Action. Suspense. Intregue. Twists and turns. Murders, of course. And a little romance for spice. I'm reading away, flipping ages like crazy when I am suddenly thrown from the story and yelling at my eReader. How did all the editors, proofers, beta readers, etc miss that? How can the same piece of evidence be found in two different places at two different times? Frustration. I calm myself down, continue reading, get to the final climatic scene and Victoria is suddenly Sarah! Again thrown out of the story. Really? I so expect better from this publishing house. These careless errors impacted an otherwise good review.
I am sure most of you will enjoy this story. Just don't be surprised if you get thrown too. Overlooking the above mentioned errors, this is a good suspense with a kind of surprising ending. Not to mention the introduction of some new characters. More LOST stories? Cool. I will look forward to them.
So Viki has her secrets and so does Wade. They are attracted to one another but have been fighting it. Viki refuses to give in because loving someone is very dangerous in her eyes. Wade has had enough after almost loosing her to a killer and wants to have any type of relationship with her.
This works in Wades favor when Gabe partners them on a case in Savannah. They hook up the night before they leave but agree to be partners with benefits and nothing more.
When they begin their LOST investigation of Kennedy it quickly becomes apparent that another woman has been taken. It looks like the same MO. Now they're looking into two cases.
Kennedy's body shows up. Viki finds that she was alive up until 2 years prior and had been tortured for years. They rush to try and find the second victim and find the killer is playing with them.
Another intense read by Cynthia. LOVED IT. Still can't get over how someone as nice as Cynthia can write such evil beings ;).
