**spoiler warning** I do not for a minute believe that it could possibly be okay between them ever again after that experience. I just don't. Not when terror and abuse is involved. Sculpt is justifying the sex between them while she is held captive by saying it was "consensual." No, it wasn't. She was being held captive, afraid she might disappear into the sex trafficking industry. Emily is hoping to keep him interested enough in her to keep him from the other men on the property and from being sold. That is under duress.
I appreciate that the author was throwing in Deck's involvement and Sculpt's punishment as efforts to make the situation more palatable or redeemable, but to me that still does not make the relationship between Emily and Sculpt ever salvageable. The situation was too much trauma for any sane, healthy woman to ever have explained away and be involved with him again. Maybe expecting a character to be written as sane or healthy is too much to expect. Regardless it was at that point that I felt the story jumped the shark irreparably. There is no expectation that a story be realistic but I like my fantasy enjoyable, and I did not find the continuation of Sculpt and Emily as a couple (or his pursuit of her until they again became a couple) enjoyable in the least.
This book kind of broke me...
I am not a reader of angsty dark dramas but this book was f##king amazing. I recommend reading the free book with you before you read this one though so that you fell the love Sculpt has for Emily before you ever read this one because if I hadn't I would have stopped reading in the first chapter...
When Emily is kidnapped by Sculpts father and taken into his disgusting house of darkness and filth. He goes back to protect her in the only way he can by walking back into hell. What happens to Emily in this book isn't as tragic as it can be but it still breaks her in a way that most people never walk away from. She is never raped but she is touched by evil and hurt and tortured. Some of her reactions were valid but the love he has for her is in every touch he gives her when they're alone.
Hell is what he's lived through and when he gets her out there is still more hell in store for him as they try to get her location out of him but he would never betray her. Even as the pain poured out on the pages I knew he loved her and that her kidnapping had never been his plan.
When they're finally both free rebuilding the bridge between them would be easy if he only told her what his father had done to them but he won't. They still manage with a little help from friends to get themselves to the HEA they both deserved.
So since this book broken me I will have to give it a EPE or 5-stars plus about five more because this book was heartbreakingly beautiful despite its darkness...
And the love scenes, yes, they were hot. And plentiful, some were a bit harsh, but tantalizing just the same. They left me feeling breathless and wanting more. But, it's the love behind them that overwhelmed me the most. Logan is just delicious, all male and alpha, but so tender and loving at the same time. Le sigh, he is definitely my new book boyfriend!
I really enjoyed this story, it made me squirm in the best kind of way. I also enjoyed the supporting cast of characters, they added humor, depth, and intrigue to the story. I can't wait to read more about all of them.
This is a good series, and I'm looking forward to the next book!

Firstly let me just say, this is not a sappy rockstar / fighter, mushy love story. It is dark, powerful, dangerous, sinister, hard hitting & heart wrenching. Nashoda Rose for me has taken one of the darkest subject matters available & wrote a master piece.
Emily - beautiful inside & out. She fell in love with a rockstar & thought her life was finally where she wanted it, until that fatal night. Kidnapped, beaten, starved & abused she is frightened. Alone & hurting, unsure if she has the strength to win this battle, she knows sadly that the worst is yet to come. Then she hears his voice, strong & powerfull. Finally able to breathe, she grasps onto the shred of hope that Logan will save her, take her away from this living hell, protect her & keep her safe. What she discovered was that life isn't fair & what you believe can be snatched away in a heartbeat, leaving a lifetime of devastation in it's wake.
Logan / Sculpt. Fearless, strong, dominant. His past truly was HELL , the kind that would make even the strongest men crumble. He finds love & hope in the arms of Emily. To him she is the light, strong & powerful, he yearns to have her close, loving her wasn't planned but now he can't live without her. Until that fatal night & his worst nightmares came to light, as he was dragged back into hell. Could he save her, could he save himself.
OMG i cried buckets of ugly tears, had to keep keep closing my kindle & seriously I didn't think I would make the end. The darkness rolled from these pages, screaming to be released with all of the raw anger, pain & hurt that the words expelled. Logan & Emily's story is beautifully broken & so hauntingly tragic that you just can not see how it is going to end. The character development for me was exceptional - I love dual POV & this did not disappoint. It hurt to see the pain & anguish they both suffered, yet it filled me with hope at what the both survived.
An absolute amazing 5 star read!!
ps - this review has been written after my re read (yes it is that good) I never really appreciated how valuable reviews were to both the reader & the author, so here is mine.
Thought both Emily & Sculpt were amazing, Emily was incredible strong & resilient & really loved how she didn't give into Sculpt fall & straight back into his arms & Sculpt well what's not to love, he's confident & knows what he wants & doesn't take no for an answer.
Loved the bonus chapters from Sculpts POV on the authors website.
Definitely recommend reading With You first, which is where Sculpt & Emily first meet.
My reason for not giving 5 stars is that the story, for me personally, slightly lost its way in the last quarter of the book, being a tad too sappy & too repetitive of Emily's feelings/thoughts for sculpt. The story did get back on track for the last section though.
If you are a lover of dark romance seriously recommend reading this series Tear Asunder & Unyielding - spin off series
It's a dark read about sex slavery - so, possibly not everyone's cup of tea. Got to say that it's not a subject I like to read about but I thought this story was great, and sets the characters up nicely for future books.
Emily is sweet and innocent. She is estranged from her mother, who'd verbally abused her for years. She approaches Sculpt/Logan to teach her how to fight, after being attacked one night by a stranger.
Logan is a tough illegal fighter and singer in an up-and-coming rock band. He has a mysterious past.
Over the course of a couple of months, through their fight training, they grow closer and fall in love. One night, Emily is kidnapped, and held in captivity by a slavery ring, and she finds that Logan is part of the group. Or, is he?
The first half of the story deals with her captivity and the second half of the story deals with her life after her escape. Both sections of the story explores her relationship with Logan.
Overall, this story is about despair, trust, healing and enduring love. It is about what a person is prepared to go through for a once-in-a-lifetime love. Great, if dark, read. Look forward to reading the author's other works.
