I agree with other reviewers about some of the negatives posted about this little guy.
People must remember, this is a NETBOOK. Not a laptop or desktop replacement.

As a traveler, I got tired of lugging around a full blown laptop when it wasn't really necessary. I bought this little gem about a year ago, added more memory and a portable, external optical drive and an external, 1TB hard drive (though most of what I do can be fitted on the 250G internal hard drive), and it has served me with no complaints. It gets by airport security without having to pull it out (OK, a couple of times when TSA was being anal). But I'm able to do all I need to do without the bulk. A nice Targus bag to hold everything and it even fits in my carry-on backback.

No, it's not a full-fledged computer with all the bells and whistles. But it does a great job for a Road Warrior. I upload movies to watch on plane and have Netflix to watch in the hotel rooms. I have Google Drive to share documents and OpenOffice to create and edit documents.

The construction is solid! As much as I have toted it around this past year, nothing has gone wrong with it. When I get back to my home-office, I sync it with my desktop to update all files updated and created while on the road.

Therefore, used correctly, this is a little gem capable of doing a lot. I highly recommend this Netbook. Just use it as it's intended. A tablet with an attached keyboard.

I really enjoy using this little Toshiba Computer. I bought mine refurbished, got it for under $200.00 and it looks and works like a new one. You can surf the Web on either Windows Explorer or Google Chrome. Word Pad is included. There is lots of storage space for pictures, documents, and music as this computer is equipped with 250 GB of storage and 1 GB Ram. You can upgrade this little Toshiba to 2 GB of Ram easily with a DDR2 Memory Module for about $30.00. Windows 7 Starter has everything I use everyday. I don't need the Windows 7 Home Premium Edition. Many of the features I never use, so why pay extra for it?

I don't know about the review that only gave two stars, but I've had this netbook for about six months and couldn't be happier. The build quality is extremely solid and the blue color and dimpled casing are very attractive. I have the stock 1GB memory and the thing runs like a champ. I have no idea about the problems the other reviewer described. Surfing the web is a breeze with either Firefox or Chrome, and the trackpad works perfectly (note to other reviewer: if you think it's too sensitive perhaps you need a driver update). This netbook is responsive and perfect for on-the-go surfing and light computing. It's the third netbook I've owned (Acer D150 and a Sony) and easily my favorite. No, it's not a desktop replacement or full-fledged laptop running an i5 with 6GB of RAM, but if you understand what a netbook is and what it's supposed to do you won't be disappointed with this Toshiba.

I bought this for my gf and it's working very well for her so far. Some programs suffer because of the lack of ram, but that's to be expected 'cause it's only a netbook. Large screen and stable, it seems, so far.

I would NOT recommend buying this netbook to anyone. I bought this netbook to be a secondary more mobile computer for use in coffee shops and graduate school classes. It's pretty slow if you're trying to use audio or video streaming, but it originally worked just fine for word processing and excel spreadsheets. About a year in, the computer decided it could no longer locate the battery, which up to that point had worked just fine and still offered me over two hours of battery life per charge. I contacted Toshiba, but naturally this occurred right after the warranty expired and they wouldn't do anything to help without charging so much that I might as well have bought a new netbook. I ended up having to keep the thing plugged in to use it, otherwise it would die immediately. Then it decided that it could no longer locate the hard drive while I was typing up a file in Word and now it won't boot up properly at all. I'm not sure if it's a corrupted motherboard or what, but my family has bought over a dozen computers over the past decade and we've never had something crap out on us this badly.

I bought my wife one brand new a few years ago. Upgraded it to 2Gb and I loaded Win 10 and it runs fine. I have a PC and two laptops, but I like this little guy best. It's like a tablet with a good keyboard, and you don't have to learn a new OS.

If you're trying to stay away from Windows 8 like me, you'll love this laptop - keep your flashplayer and shockwaveplayer up-to-date (it appears that Adobe.com may have integrated those two items these days), and occasionally update your Java (Java.com), and you shouldn't have any problems with this laptop!

A few things to consider before purchasing. I have owned this netbook for a year now and cannot recommend it to anyone. The mouse pad is way to sensitive and browsing is extremely slow. You cannot watch a movie as there is not enough processing capacity and or weak graphics chip (the movie constantly freezes up while viewing) additionally even with headphones and the volume turned all the way up sound is barely audible.
