Check other computers. I know you will be Happy with an Toshiba Satellite L655D-S5066
I contacted Toshiba, who at first did nothing, and then sent me the wrong part to replace it. On the third try they sent me the right part, however the problem continued.
This is definitely a hardware issue and not the adapter. I then learned they had a recall on the previous years model, but this year's was not covered even though the symptoms are similar.
The main issues:
The plug expands because it heats so much (causing a distinct burning odor and burn marks on the laptop), so it will not fit into the port and therefore not charge.
If you charge it while in sleep mode, it will charge without burning, but since it is only recognized by the battery once in a while you never know if it is charging or not.
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, POTENTIAL BURN HAZARD - SHOP ANOTHER BRAND
Overall, it was an OK middle of the road laptop. The speakers were not very loud, the system took a long time to load up, and the computer got very hot very quick. Not to mention I hard to replace the battery just a few months ago. What a waste!
I regret going with this pick.
I still would recommend this laptop, you just needs to buy a bluetooth adapter. Not a big deal, but you do loose a USB port...sigh.
Only complaints i have eis the hard drive is only 320 gigs most lower end laptops come with at least 500 gigs but for most this will do fine as for normal browsing and video playback this computer does it with no problem
