I grabbed this Toshiba 32GB Class 10 SDHC Card (THNSH032GTRT) during an Amazon Lightning Deal. It looked like a great deal for a class-10 card made by a reputable Japanese company. After receiving the card and thoroughly testing it, however, the deal hardly looks attractive now.

I tested the Toshiba card using three benchmark programs. Here are my results:
- According to "H2testw v1.4" (which measure sequential read/write speed of 1GB files), this card has a Write speed of 10.4MB/s and Read speed of 16.3MB/s
- "CrystalDiskMark v3.01" reported Sequential Write speed of 11.96MB/s and Read speed of 18.09MB/s
- "Flash Memory Toolkit 2.00" reported 1.7MB/s when writing files of 1MB each. 7.9MB/s when writing 10MB files.

To qualify as 'class-10', a card has to sustain a minimum sequential write speed of 10MB/s. This Toshiba card does meet the requirement according to my first two benchmark results. However, its performance pales in comparison to all my other class-10 and even some class-6 SDHC cards. For examples:
- Transcend Class 6 SDHC: 15.6MB/s in Sequential Write, 21.8MB/s Read
- Transcend Class 10 SDHC (TS32GSDHC10E): 16.8MB/s Write, 21.7MB/s Read
- Transcend Class 10 UHS SDHC TS32GSDU1: 29.0MB/s Write, 34.

I bought this card off a lightening deal and got it for a good deal. Works great in my canon camera. I do not have an issue with how it works in the camera and really do not notice a difference in speed. Just for kicks I ran a speed disk on both cards and to my surprise this card from Toshiba is a lot slower. Like 25% slower even though it claims a higher class speed.
New class 10 Toshiba 32gb Write 7.7 and read 13.5
Older class 6 Transcend 8gb card Write 10.7 and Read 19.6

Does this really matter in real world camera performance probably not. Though if you got this card to also do file transfers there are better/faster options.

I purchased this little guy from an Amazon deal and I love it, it transfers my music and a movies very fast so I can play in my car stereo receiver when I'm on the go.

I highly recommend this item to anyone you won't be disappointed!

Overall score A+ no problems at all!

These cards are very expensive locally. In my area getting a class 10 is very difficult and will cost 2-4x as much as the Amazon price, depending upon the transfer rate. The Amazon info was a little sparse on data rates but thanks to Mr. NLee's review, I understood exactly what I was buying and bought two for everyday usage. So, this price is a fair deal.

♦ Great for single photo shooting, sluggish with high burst speeds at higher res.
♦ Sluggish with high res video, better with medium and low res.
♦ Has a locking slide.
♦ Price is great for everday usage or backup/extra.
♦ For simple data storage, works great.
♦ Watch the end of the video for the storage and transfer rates since Amazon is going to delete all customer photos.

► I have had this card in/out of two cameras and my computer about two dozen times and so far, no problems. Writing big files at fast speeds usually gives me the "Waiting....." signal on my Canon. I prefer using cheap cards as my everyday cards and using my fancier cards for more important stuff.

► The video is shot using the card (I have two) and a cheaper camera because of the humidity that morning.

I bought this for our new Panasonic HC-V520 camcorder and it works nicely with fantastic capacity. When I was shopping for a camcorder, one feature that this Panasonic advertised was the ability to use a portable hard drive for back up without a computer. However after getting the camcorder I have been unable to get this feature to work with the WD and Toshiba HD's that I have and it looks like the camcorder is compatible with a very small and select number of HD's. Unfortunately it looks like my HD's are not supported so I felt it was more economical to buy a nice capacity class 10 SD card instead of investing in yet another HD. Not real pleased with Panasonic for not letting customers know about the lack of HD compatibility before I bought the unit.

SD cards are very much a commodity part for me. I never really believe the speed ratings (and usually it doesn't matter for me). It's always about the best bang for the buck at the time I happen to be in the market for an SD Card. The nice thing about Toshiba is that it perfects to spec (I guess it's a Japanese thing). Yes it's not the fastest memory out there, but in my application (family camera) the write speed was not my limiting factor.

If this is the cheapest memory at the time your buying, you'll do fine. If it's not the cheapest, then buy something else.
